UPDATE: Comments, Please!
"The ventricles are normal in size and confiuration. The FLAIR and T2 weighted images demonstrate a few scattered punctate areas of increased signal intensity in the white matter. However, there is no evidence of recent infarction. No mass or abnormal enhancement is appreciated. There is no subdural hematoma."

I received a copy of this report in the mail because I requested a copy of the MRI. My PCP who ordered the MRI has not returned any phone calls. However, the receptionists feel free to offer their diagnositic skills in lieu of an appointment.

If you diagnosed sarcasm, you dxd correctly! But....would love ANY impression of the Findings...I expect answers from here regardless if you are a receptionist or NOT!:)

  • I'd make an appointment with the doctor again to go over the results. I would also inform him that his secretary is practicing medicine.

  • Your PCP may refer you to a neurologist and I think an endocrinologist. The spots you see could indicate a mild stroke and requires a specialist, neurology and othalmology. Ask for 3 referrals. You never mentioned the blood work on the thyroid. Even if normal, it can be low-normal and require a dose of thyroid each morning. The choking sensation seems thyroid like in nature, or it could indicate that you have something like warts down your esophagus--who knows??...then you would need an ENT man to look at it...the burning in your face could be herpes zoster or another form under the surface...it could have gone systemic and thus, the fleeting burning pains throughout your body...they can run blood work for each individual type herpes to determine which one it might be, if warranted. The burning in face could also be from mercury fillings gone crazy. There's a lot of could be's in your case, but I would start with referrals for: endocrinoloy, neurology and othalmology, maybe ENT. Ask and ye shall receive.

  • Go to med.help.com and type in "punctate MRI". Generally, you have a normal MRI exam.
