My breaths are not "as productive" as they have been in the past. I will find myself at times taking a hesitated unintential deap breath. I have been having chest tightness off and on for the past two or three weeks. The breathing is what is my concern right now. It is "out of character" for me to not feel like I am getting a full breath and especially unusual for me to take a breath that starts with hesitation and chest movement. I don't have a cold and haven't recently.

  • Blaze:you surprised me.I didn't think anyone with OCD as severe as yours would have a sense of humor! This also gives me the opportunity to warn the poor patient to avoid your usual and customary dose of ''spam.''

Do you have a cough at all? Does trying to take a full breath cause you to cough? Do you exercise regularly? Have you changed your routine in the past few months? Do your symptoms worsen with exertion? Do you suffer from anxiety or panic attacks? Have you changed anything out of the ordinary in the past few months, including your diet? Sorry for so many questions, but if you could answer them it may help.DOM

  • Female, non-smoker, drink occasional at a restaurant, no significant health issues (have TMJ issues, take Detrolyx??? for needing to urinate alot at night), no known allergies, retail managment for 18 years (stress is of no change) two children (19 and 20 still at home), 21 year happy marriage. only thing new is chest pain (not sharp) off and on will last for a couple of hours.... tightness/pressure.... started about two or three weeks ago.... not an everyday event. Never a great sleeper..... will sleep in when chance arises. My husband says I snore a great deal. I am a back sleeper prodominently.... had back fusion Aug 2006. Put on about 25 pounds after the back fusion. I believe that is when I started snoring.

Your symptoms are exactly like the side effects listed on www.drugs.com: Detrol side effectsGet emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat. Stop using Detrol and call your doctor at once if you have any of these serious side effects: chest pain, fast or uneven heart rate;feeling short of breath, even with mild exertion;swelling, rapid weight gain;confusion, hallucinations;urinating less than usual or not at all; orpainful or difficult urination.Talk with your doctor about this. Docs often miss side effects of medicines causing problems. It is often overlooked. Best wishesDOM

  • It would not be uncommon under the circumstances for you to be experiencing apnea during sleep. The fact that you have interrupted sleep patterns, sleep primarily on your back and have experienced weight gain, together with observations by your husband that your snore a great deal, would make you a likely candidate for a sleep study to determine the presence of sleep apnea. Experiencing air hunger is also an indicator among other signs of sleep apnea as well as sub-sternal discomfort or pain in some patients. Best regards, J Cottle, MD
