I am not to sure where to start. I have been having an issue with finding out what is wrong with me. I went to the E.R back in April because I was having a hard time breathing and my back was hurting. I have a history of kidney problems and so i thought that it may be that. When the doctor came in to tell me the news on my test he told me it was not anything to do with my kidneys so he said he wanted to give me a cat scan. He came in to tell me that he found a mass in my lungs. I went to the doctors and they told me that they wanted me to keep geting cat scans for 3 months just to see if it would get bigger or go away. Well it to my relief went away finally in July. So the doctors just told me it was a form of pnaumonia. I thought that was a little strange because I did not have any symptoms (no cough, no tiredness, just the sore back). I did read up on it and did find that you can have it without knowing it. Well, here is why I am writing. During that time That I had the mass I never once coughed and about a month ago I coughed and a blod clot came up 5 different times 1 that was the size of a dime, 2 were a little smaller and 2 that just seemed like it was blood from the others coming up. It was not with any mucus it was drk red almost black and thick. I have been having sore throats that come and go for a very long time AND I have been tested for reflux because I have had those symptoms for over 2 years. That test came back negative. The hearturn like feeling has gotten worse and my throat feels like there is something in it and it is hard to swallow at times. When I eat it feels like I can not swallow my food unless I take small bites. When I do get done eating I cough and is annoying. My chest feels tighter than normal and I just coughed up another blood clot. This one was little but still makes me wonder what it is. Does anyone think they know what it could be. I have an appt. with my doctor in a few weeks (earliest she can get me in). Please help me figure this out. Thank you

  • Does you dr know you are now coughing up blood? You do need to get seen by a dr. How many weeks away are you? Did you tell the nurse you have been coughing up blood and how much? Are you running any fevers? Having night sweats?Do you smoke?Have you been tested for TB?Many things can cause coughing up blood, and some are quite serious. Can you find another dr you can get in to see earlier?Or can you get into a good local teaching hospital? It might be worth getting another opinion anyway.I am not to sure where to start. I have been having an issue with finding out what is wrong with me. • No, I have not had any night sweats and no I do not think it is TB I have been nowhere to contract this. I do NOT smoke nor have I ever. I am telling you this is just plain weird to me. I have not coughed up blood in the last 3 days but my chest does still hurt. I have no fever nor did I when they said I had the pnaumonia. I did call the Dr.'s office last night to see if I could get in this week coming instead of the following week. Unfortunately my insurance sucks and does not allow me to go to the E.R. The last time that I mentioned i went to the E.R. I got stuck paying the bill since they did not see it as an emergency thing. Hmmm last I thought having a mass on the lungs could turn into an emergency but because they found out it was pnaumonia they made me pay for the visit. So I am not wanting to go that route again. But thank you for the advice. Does anyone out there no of what it could be.

  • I think your doctor needs to run a bunch more tests on you. You need to rule out blood clots (did they do a contrast dye already????)...I think masses seem to dissolve on their own from time to time, so you seemed lucky....I'm more concerned about blood clots in your pulmonary system. You need to be under the care of a good doctor. If this one doesn't help, go to another one. She/he may refer you to a pulmonary doctor. The other condition may be related. Are you being exposed to any toxins or poisons? Taking meds for anything (and this is a side effect?)...are you around mold? Think poison somewhere..could also be an ongoing virus, so running blood work to rule out viruses, like bird flu or something weird....please type in larger print, too.
