Hi everyone, can anyone help. I have had a kind of wheeze on waking every morning. It feels like it is at the bottom of my right lung. This has been going on now for over two years. I have had two chest xrays that show nothing. When l wake up l also feel very tired and find it hard to get going, once l get up and out of bed the wheeze dissappears. I did have two episodes of pleurisy about 3 years ago. I have also noticed my fingers are puffy in the morning and during the day they go down too. I am 48 female and not really over weight. I did have a large intake of wine (60+) units a week but have stopped drinking. I did have a pain in what l think was liver but that seems better. However the lung thing every morning l wake take a deep breath and it is still their. Whilst my GP tells me not to worry, l worry very much as my father died of lung cancer and l nursed him and l would be terrified to get the disease myself. Any ideas short of going for a private CT scan. Thanks in advance.:)

  • I would suggest you see a lung specialist dr abt your wheezing. Have the tests run and get the right dx and treatment. It can be caused by many things, allergies, mold, dust mites, etc. You could have an infection that may be easily treated with abx, or maybe asthma is involved, which you'd need meds for.Blood tests can find viruses and bacterial lung infections. Ct scans & xrays can show any spots on the lungs. There are other causes such as sarciodisis, or old TB scaring for spots appearing, that can be treated. Sorry abt the loss of your father. Please get some tests, so you don't have to worry abt it. Take care~~JerseyLymie
