Please help! I recently had a stomach virus. Several days afterward I began having severe pain in my epigastric region. Felt like heaviness and pressure in my chest and I would get this terrible squeezing pain every few minutes. No heartburn or reflux symptoms. Went to doctor, had blood work and ultrasound to check my gallbladder. Gallbladder looked fine, but did find a 6mm Kidney Stone still in kidney and not blocking anything. Was told it was probably gastritis and peptic ulcer. Prescribed GI cocktail and told to take Prilosec. GI Cocktail made pain worse but Prilosec helped with the squeezing pain. Had EKG to make sure it wasn't heart and that came out fine. Now I still have the pressure pain and dull achy pain with bouts of constipation and diarrhea and terrible unrelenting mid and lower back pain that makes it almost impossible to sleep at night. Not getting anywhere with doctor. Do not have insurance at present moment, so I cannot afford a referral to specialist. Anyone have any of these same symptoms and, if so, any resolutions? Thanks!

  • Conditions like Irritable Bowel and Gastroparesis can set in after a GI virus... I am dealing with the same thing now. I also had a poprhyria attack (could be acquired or genetic) because I was starving from not eating due to severe pain. Look into Irritable Bowel Disease, Gastroparesis (whichj is associated with GERD and sounds an awful lot like what you might be dealing with) and also look into acquired porphyria diseases (more rare but possible, the GI cocktail is bad if you have any porphyria disease/condition I will look up some links on these for you.... Gerd, Infection and diseases like diabetes can cause gastroparesis... symptoms of Gastroparesis...http://en.allexperts.com/q/Gastroenterology-971/gastroparesis.htm Please help!
