For the last 2 years I have had long-lasting migraines at work combined with a hoarse voice, severely delayed periods, severe pain right underneath my diafragm and massive bloating of my body (I have had this bloating twice now in a year, especially on my face, legs and abdominal area); I am now off work as I cannot fit into any of my clothes, I feel inflated like a baloon after eating or drinking, and my abdominal area is absolutely massive; I am not an overweight person and I do a lot of sport. I also have 1 cyst on each of my ovaries and I have never had children; I know I am not pregnant. Last week I have had my blood test and one of the theories is that my tyroid is low (although more tests are being carried out) and so this has caused my hoarse voice, but no one can indicate why I retain so much water and I bloat up so badly, why my period gets so delayed once/year. I get tired, am demotivated, cry out of nothing and generally feel low. The first reaction my own doctor had was to prescribe me medication for depression and tell me I suffer from stress from work. Does anyone identify with this condition???? No one doctor can put all of these together for me.

  • I can identify with your condition as I have similar and some exact symptoms. Please visit www.ahummingbirdsguide.com there you will find a list of symptoms. Yours are there. I've been sick for 4 years and am just now finding out what may be the reason...Please take a look...it's difficult because symptoms are so random and they come and go...Be Well...mommy cat

  • Hi, many thanks for the posting; I read this all briefly but I will give it more time later on this afternoon; certainly. The thing is, my migraines are very much 'work related', in that when I spend long days at work, do not eat and drink properly, then I get a headache or migraine for a long time, but it/they go away with headache pills. So they do not occur out of the blue. Since I have been off work and have decided not to bother reading my boss's emails I have had no migraines at all :; as for the bloating, could it not simply be PMS I wonder? I read on the websites that so many women have the same symptoms, i.e. severe boating about 2 weeks before their period; last year I have had this problem kind of around the same time, when my work pressures mounted; my period came like 2 weeks delayed and I had the same horrid bloating. At the same time, because of a leg injury I was given the wrong medication for 1 month, which has undoubtedly caused my injury in the stomac lining ... I just wonder if I have not developed a gastro-intestinal problem as a result of that? last year it went away with a good diet and now it only lasted for like 2-3 days.I will definitely take this up with my doctor (as you recommended), but the symptoms I saw on that website are a bit extreme to me; I don't vomit, don't have any muscle problems (I am an athlete and train daily), no cardiac problems, my blood test is perfect in all areas other than the tyroid, and it's not the T4 it is likely (still pending the relevant results) the T3 is not brilliant; I am writing my PhD so I have no problems with my memory or concentration .... I do feel that this is a lot work-related; my job has changed dramatically in the last year or so and basically I am doing 6-8 people's job this year.... I have not trained in sports as often as I used to, maybe stress has caused all my tyroid etc to go mad... anyways, I shall definitely post my doctor's final results - I very much appreciate your contribution.

  • I know a man who had thyroid trouble. He became round as a ball, while eating almost nothing. Also tired and very down. Nothing helped, so (as I understand) they gave him stuff to drink that dissolved his whole thyroid. It's function was then replaced by meds, for life. He's a lot better now but still has the bloating problem. I think had he been willing to try alternative therapies, it could have been cured instead. Please read (on these forums) http://forums.wrongdiagnosis.com/showthread.php?t=12933 and http://forums.wrongdiagnosis.com/showthread.php?t=9052 - long threads, not about thyroid but the answers are relevant. I knew another woman who was told her bed is right on top of a magnetic outlet, due to a peculiarity in an underground river. She moved to another room and her thyroid problem disappeared. Please also read "The Effects of Fluoride on the Thyroid Gland" at http://rense.com/general57/FLUR.HTM .. We get "Dabur" Ayurvedic toothpaste over here, from India - works well, nice flavours, and no evil effects. Lastly, I sure hope you know about the Soy connection? Please, read http://thyroid.about.com/cs/soyinfo/a/soy.htm and especially www.westonaprice.org/soy/complaints.html (important).

  • PLease keep in mind that you do not have to have every sx to have ME some people have 1 some 30 some 60 and so on...I have most of them...being tested right now...migraines, bloating...could very well be passed off as PMS...one of the reasons so many are having difficulty getting diagnosed is due to the fact that sx seem random...no rhyme or reason...they come and go...not present all the time...very confuasing...even for doctors...Good Luck...mommy cat

  • dear unidentified...mommy cat here...please note that I never had a migraine until last summer going to school(Microbiology) and working full time...I thought it was related to that, however, I had to quit school and quit work due to my illness...I still get migraines and I'm home everyday...just a thought...also, I don't eat/drink as well as I should, I bloat, sx increase during periods, increased acid in stomach to include esophogeal reflux are also sx...stress will also increase sx...sx will come and go randomly or you will have periods of just being down...PLEASE keep in mind you do not have to have memory loss or cognitive impairment to have ME...there are mild, moderate and severe forms...I believe I'm pretty severe...Thyroid may be connected...ME patients may have a nodular thyroid...perhaps accpunting for your levels?? you also do not have to have pain or fatigue in your muscles...see how confusing all of this is? no wonder the doctors can't figure it out either...One more bit of advice..If you believe you may have ME and your dr doesn't believe you...fire him/her...that's what I did after 5 years of dealing with a doc who wouldn't listen...went to new one and same day he was testing me for ME...lots of other things ruled out in my case including carcinoid cancer...Best of luck to you...mommy cat

  • Amoeba,How large are your ovarian cysts? This can cause EXTREME bloating and abdominal discomfort, even if a smaller size. You might want to look into a form of treatment called NAET (Nambudripad Allergy Elimination Technique). www.naet.com. It may be able to pinpoint exactly what is causing your migraines, thyroid dysfunction, and if it is related to diet, or an allergy to a specific nutrient or even environmental causes. NAET is fantastic, and has changed my life. Are you drinking lots of water daily? It is likely that you don't want to drink water when you are bloated, but you really need to. Best wishesDOM
