my hubby is 22 healthy, no drinkins, drugs, smoking, he's not over weight and is pretty active. around thanksgiving he got a really high fever lik 103ish he went to the dr and they thought just the flu so the gave him antibiotics, once that got into his systom then he would start throwing up, he would take tylenol and then the fever would go down to about 99ish and then when it would start to ware off the temp would go right back up, this lasted about a week- he never really got all his energy back and still needed extra sleep. so around christmas the same thing happend and we saw a different dr and they gave the same diagnosis -flu- then in febuary we saw a different dr when it happend again, they finally began running test- chest x-rays, full body cat scans, ekgs, u a's blood cultures even sent him to a kidney specialtist when they found protein and blood in his urine. his white blood cell count was really high but they coundn't find any infection- he is also allergic to the sun so they thought -lupus but the test can back negative! the drs are stumped the even called a infectious diseases specialtist and he said he never heard of such a thing- his only symptom is the high fever, chills, fatigue no pain or anything- and all his test came back normal! we are sooo frustrated hopefully someone has heard of something simular to this!

  • I'm wondering if you've ended up getting a diagnosis? I'm a 30 year old female who has been suffering from similar symptoms but without a diagnosis either. Since about a year ago, I've had episodes of recurring acute fever (up to 104C) every 3 months. Each episode will last for 3-5 days. No other symptoms, just fevers with chills and sweating. I've done various tests (ultrasound, lupus, etc) and all came back normal. However, my ESR and CRP are high.

  • Do you have any other test results that might help narrow this down?

YES!!! we FINALLY got a diagnosis in may june 2008 my husband was diagnosed with LUPUS SLE the only way they found it was because they sent him to a kidney specialist because thy found he was spilling blood and protein in his urine so they did a kidney biopsy and found it there.. It took about 6+months to get the diagnosis because his ANA test (lupus) was coming back normal or just a smig high... Don't give up hope and keep pressing for answers!!!:)
