unending vaginal symptoms

I've had vaginal soreness and dryness since july that i just cant seem to get rid of. It is so painful that i simply cannot have sex. Sometimes its so bad that i have to call out of work. I was first treated for a yeast infection with monostat, and then diflucan. I was then treated for a bacterial infection with fluconazole and then metrogel. All of these treatments releived yeast/bacterial infection symptoms (odor, intense itch, discharge) but my vagina was always sore, obviously especially during sex. I then had an abnormal pap smear, which led to a colposcopy which led to a laser ablation of the cervix. Meanwhile, I was diagnosed with hemeroids, and told to treat them with a steroid cream/witch hazel/baths. The frequent bathing seems to have lead to a UTI, which i took a round of bactrim for. I am taking a low dose birth control pill called yaz
I've seen three different doctors for this, I've been tested for diabetes, I've changed my soap, my detergent, cut sugar and carbs in my diet, stopped drinking, tried probiotics, gone off my birth control, but nothing seems to help. I've been told that its nothing, that i need to use lubrication during sex (doesnt do anything), and that i just need more time to heal. Its been three months since i had the laser ablation, but i am still super sore and dry.
I am at my wits end. I'm really starting to believe i'm imagining this.
If anyone has experienced anything similar, or has any suggestions, please let me know.

  • If you haven't already, check to see if your hormones are out of balance....maybe you need NATURAL hormones....especially progesterone.....nothing synthetic.

  • Cleanse your body. Look up info on fasting. Get rid of all meat & dairy as well as processed foods. It will take awhile so pace yourself. Focus on building up your imune system and put sex on hold until your body really heals. 8-9 months in my case - once settled, don't go overboard.Cutting out drinking, smoking, all that stuff is great. Get into an excercise routine. Lots of water and pretty much only veggies and soy products. All organic if possible.Grind oatmeal in a coffee grinder and use for soaking in bath. A friend bought me a portable bath spa by medispa. Might help you relax without damage.Prayer is not a bad idea. Get rid of all the stress you can and spend time thinking possitive. There is an end. You can get there.

  • I definetley agree with the person who wrote above me. I think that you should see a nutritionalist who particularly focusses on holisitic remedies for the condition. I also suggest moisturizing the are with natiual vitamin E oil.

  • Does it itch sometimes like ***l? Any outbreaks or liesions? If so, could be LICHENS which often goes misdiagnosed. Simple biopsy will prove the presence of lichens.

  • I have had the exact same thing happen. Starting in January I was diagnosed with a yeast infection, then the docs though it was bv, then yeast again. I've been on diflucan, terazol, antibiotics, monistat - you name it. I'm beginning to think as well that it could be all in my head, which makes me feel even worse. I have a few days where I think I'm ok, then it's back to burning and itching. I've gone off the pill in this time as well....think it could be my changing hormones???

  • I know it says drdad, but I'm female. I too had the same problems and same treatments. AWFUL, awful, awful. Even tried chinese herbs from some crazy back street shop. I was that desperate. At the time I was convinced it was vulvodynia and caused by oxcilates (? - can't remember if that's the term - OJ is one of the culprits) in foods. Check it out on the web. I tried that too but the only thing that worked was a VACATION. I'm serious. In retrospect I believe it was stress and the more I did to relieve the symptoms the worse it got. Even anti-depressants and tranquilizers did not provide the relief that a two-week (COMPLETE) change of pace brought. It completely went away and has not returned. Yours WILL do the same soon! Best of luck to you.

  • I put up the 2nd to last posting about my problems that started in January. I think a rest might be helpful too - You're right I am totally stressed about how horrible I feel all the time. I went to the doctor again this week and was put on an agressive treatment for yeast - diflucan and gynezol (sp?) and told if this doesn't work I'll be sent to a vulvar specialist. (didn't know there was such a thing...) Anyway, I have been completely stressed since I got married in December...pretty much right before this all started. Thanks for your tip - It's nice to know that others went throught this too and that I'm not alone...

  • you may have a very severe vaginal dryness problem. lubrication wouldn't work because your vaginal walls are already dry and irritated. You'll need to see a doctor to get some cream. Some women who have hormonal issues (hysterectomy etc) don't have the natural internal moistures.
