My young cousin, had 3 bouts with strep throat in the month of January. His immune system had probably been comprimized. On January 31, 2011; he had been complaining of the top of his head hurting, like a bad headache. At midnight he was moaning and rambling loudly, by 3 am he was having a seizure, kicking the wall, eyes rolled back into his head and foaming at the mouth, by the time EMS had gotten there, he was not responding. Taken by ambulance to a local hospital, not sure of the diagnosis and unable to control or stop the seizures, he was transferred to a childrens hospital. They had been treating him for the symptoms of encephalitis, inflammation of the brain due to an infection. But they believe that is gone from his body. He was placed on a ventilator the fourth day, because two seizures lasted nine minutes each. His condition is the same today as when he was transferred there. The seizures have not stopped. We do not have answers or a cause or diagnosis. Several CT scans, two MRIs, and a spinal tap were all normal. He is on three anti seizure meds, and has been in an induced coma for three weeks. A ketokinetic diet was started Friday, March 4th, through the IV. Tomorrow will start putting it in a stomach tube. Still had two major seizures yesterday. If you have any input please let me know. Thank you.Reply Follow This Thread Stop Following This Thread Flag this Discussion
