hi just stumbled upon this site trying to find answers for the elderly lady I am a care provider for. I hope someone can help me figure this out quicker than the hospital seems to be trying!
ok well her symptoms began months ago! she's had a cough and runny nose for a long time and has no history of allergys, about a month ago she had developed a hoarse sound to her voice tho it would come and go, about two weeks ago she seemed to sound like fluid was building in her lungs. she absolutely refused to go to the hospital. i got her to go to the doctors office they gave her antibiotics and over the counter cough syrup.
I feel its important to mention that there was a plumbing issue in her home and foul water came up from the shower drain overnight spilling onto the carpet in her bedroom. I was not there when this happened and the other girl didnt do anything so the water sat on the carpet two days before i arrived and shampooed the carpet dried it and cut out and replaced about a 4x4 section of carpet & 8x6 piece of foam padding underneath. i tried airing it out everyday and had the old lady sleep in the den a week but she only got worse. two days ago she finally agreed to go to an urgent care where they discovered she had a great deal of fluid building in her lungs. urgent care convinced her to go to the hospital and they drained 1.7 liters of yellow fluid from her lungs.
since arriving at the hospital she's been coughing up blood clots, been extremely short of breath, and very weak. they've done a bronchioscopy, ekg, cat scan, xrays, ....etc. the bronchioscopy pictures show she has 4 endobronchial obstructions and 2 mucosal edema. pneumonia has supposedly been ruled out. they've yet to get any results back and have yet to give so much as an indication as to what she may have.
also this elderly woman is diabetic and had her thyroid removed many years ago.

she wants to go home to her cat terribly much! please all comments are welcome!
thank you,
Lehla
