I have been dealing with foot discomfort/swelling for about 5 years. I was an avid runner (5 miles/day) who probably got some sort of stress injury (at age 19) ---- one day after a run I noticed a bruise/bump on the top middle of my left foot, and after about 2 more days it began to cause serious pain. The pain lasted for about 2 weeks, but afterwards the bump never subsided, and the swelling began to spread to the rest of my foot (it feels like a soft tissue). Today there is no acute pain, but the entire foot is simply swollen, and I don't have nearly as much stability as I used to have. The swelling and weakness in the foot has completely altered my gait, and I now have pain in my left hip, as well as discomfort in my left knee. I have had to stop all sports which involve running, and even avoid walking long distances. I have seen quite a few specialists over the years. The X-ray was negative and the MRI showed swelling but no apparent serious damage. I'm at a loss, because my foot is "bloated" and obviously damaged in some way, but I have no diagnosis.Reply Follow This Thread Stop Following This Thread Flag this Discussion
