My 3 year old daughter has lost 80% of her hair and the hair she has left is dry and brittle. She is tired most of the day after sleeping through the night, (normally @ 9.5 hrs/night) and naps @ 2.5 hours daily. She suffers from chronic constipation, but daily miralax helps. She complains of stomach pains almost daily and her appetite is poor. This has been going on for approx. 9 months now. Last year she had pigtails, a chubby face full of color and plenty of energy.....now she has short broken-off hair and I can see her scalp, her skin is pale, she has dark circles under her eyes, she is skinny, and lacking energy. She was dx with eczema, but no longer shows any symptoms of it. FYI- She will only wear very soft clothing and wants the lights dim.
Allergy test was negative
CBC normal
TSH normal
Sed rate normal
Vit D normal
TTG normal
All milestones were met
Her birth was difficult r/t shoulder dystoctia resulting in an inital apgar score of 4, which increased to 9 within the hour. She had a broken right clavical that healed without complication. She also had left eye ptosis (droopy eyelid) that was surgically repaired in March of 2011 without complication.
Please offer any suggestions! My heart is breaking to see my sweet and smart little girl want to play, but say she is too tired or has belly pain....
Thank you!

  • Even if you have had a neg TTG.. have you tried a GF diet? Her story seems virtually identical to so many others I've read who were dx'd with celiac as they got older.http://theliberatedkitchenpdx.com/celiac/celiac-testing-myth6-negative-results-no-problems/

  • I am so sorry to hear of what your little girl is going through it must be heartbreaking to watch your child suffer and worst yet not have any answeres as why. My guess would be Lyme disease. The symptoms sound very much like Lyme. There are not many doctors that treat this condition but if you search for Lyme literate MD'S I'm sure you will find one somewhere. Naturopaths may also be able to help you. Best of luck and I hope your daughter gets better soon.

  • HiHave the hospital checked the functioning of her mitochondria.?They produce the energy that powers cells so her energy would be low and hair would not be growing properly. Also there is a mitochondrial disease that has as one of its main symptoms drooping eyelid.I hope she gets better soon
