Underweight, tired and depressed despite normal thyroid & liver values. Any ideas?

Hi everyone,
I'm a 20 year old male and I have been severely underweight since early puberty. Currently at 16.1 BMI.
I also get tiredness attacks during the day even if I had a good night's sleep (I usually sleep for about 8-9 hours a night). Interestingly enough, reducing my nightly sleep to 5-6 hours actually diminishes this effect, but I can't maintain that sleep cycle because after 2-3 nights I oversleep alarm clocks.
I am diagnosed with persistent depressive disorder (PDD) but not currently taking any antidepressants.
I have done the usual blood tests for thyroid hyperfunction or liver problems / cirrhosis. All negative.
I do not have an eating disorder and my calorie intake is slightly above normal.
Most people, including doctors, tell me it's probably a genetic thing, but while both my parents are definitely on the thinner side, I can't quite believe that's all there's to it. My brother has normal weight.

  • How old is your brother? If he’s older then he has gone through his filling out that young men have happen. You may not have reached that yet. You may have a fast metabolism which would explain your weight and even your fatigue when you hit the wall, so to speak. You may have just burned through your fuel intake.
Maybe it’s not how much you eat, but what you’re eating.
Have you taken antidepressants in the past?
IMHO no one under the age of 30 should be given these powerful meds. The human brain is constantly developing through the 25th year and for some even up to 30 years old.
You are still in a high growth cycle with a lot of your body developing and growing into manhood. Remember when your voice changed, that was due to hormone development. Each person is unique, not even identical twins are completely alike, they’re unique. Be the wonderful unique young man that you are, and don’t worry that this or that hasn’t happened. Life is an ever changing dynamic.
    Be blessed! Praying
