This has been going on for 2 years, but it just keeps worsening. I'm an 18 year old female, and have absolutely no energy at all. I have this feeling like the front part of my brain is being pressed, and its constant. Sometimes drinking liquid relieves it, and it gets the worst around my period. I have been getting really bad sore throats, only at night, for the past few months and they really hurt. I've gone to every doctor imaginable, I'm scheduled to see a neurogist the 4th, took long enough to get into one! I've had a brain scan but no tumors, I just want to start the new year feeling better soon, because I don't have a normal teenage life, and I want to go to college next year! I can't even concentrate on my school work, and I go to bed at 10 and wake up at 11 and am still incredibly exhausted. Really bad swollen lymphnodes, and my feet are always cold and purple, or they are red and feel like they are on fire. So many doctors have dismissed me as being a depressed teenager, but I swear the only depression I have is not being able to get better. My parents and I are just trying to find my diagnosis. Does this sound like a neurlogical condition or something else? Ps. I usually have had lowgrade temperature like 96.6 but lately Ive been 99.8, is that weird?

  • same person here, i saw something on tv yesterday about lyme disease, and i had brought it up with my doctor but he said if it didn't come up in my blood test it wasnt likely. But I have all of the symptoms, swollen lymphnodes, jointpain, constipation, should i still bring this up when i go to the neurologist next week?

  • Three things come to mind - endocrine disorder, nutritional deficiencies, and/or autoimmune disorder. Have you been tested for Epstein Barr, or mono? This would be the first thing I would check for. Lyme is a possibility. Also have you had your thyroid levels checked? The problem with specialists is they have an extremely narrow scope of practice. You end of seeing a dozen doctors and no one can figure out what's wrong because their focus is too narrow. Don't ever let a doctor convince you it's "all in your head" - you know your body! I would suggest trying to see a naturopath or acupuncturist. They can help with fatique, pain, headaches and much more. It would be a good idea to take a good quality food based vitamin/mineral supplement. Wish you all the best.Doctor of Oriental Medicine

  • thankyou for taking the time to help me out. :) I have a neurologist apppointment tomorrow, but if that doesn't work out, im going to look into those options. I don't have mono, my thyroid levels are normal, besides having tumors on them, and i had to have part of my thyroid removed last summer. Thanks again for your reply- Katie

  • Me again,Constipation also causes fatigue, lack of concentration etc.Do you find your headaches go AFTER opening your bowels?Your bowel needs to absorb over 2litres of fluid a day, if you are not drinking enough, your boby absorbs too many toxins (it's this that causes your problems)I hope you problem is a simple one and not one of the other rare conditions that you mention. Don't forget that we sometimes look at a problem too deeply and it is quite ofter something fare less complicated. Perhaps see a dietetian as well (lactose intolorance? - a cause of constipation, very common).Morrie

  • Hey thankyou for your reply,I have been suggested by a lot of doctors to be dehydrated, but the thing is, I constantly have something to drink by my side to prevent that, and I still get dark urine! My doctor put me on dulcolax everyother day now, because I was going more than a week with out going. I just recently got back blood tests, and they keep showing I have a high level of antibodies against strep. My doctor think that strep might of infected a lot of my body, and wants to see if a lot of antibiotics will help, I hope so!

  • GOOD GOD! BE SURE IF GO THE DRUG ROUTE (ANTIBIOTICS) THAT YOU TAKE A GOOD PROBIOTIC (ACIDOPHOLUS) TO HELP WITH THE ACCOMPANYING YEAST INFECTION YOU WILL MOST LIKELY GET. START ON THAT EARLY - IT WON'T HURT. I WAS DIAGNOSED IN 1992 WITH CHRONIC FATIGUE SYNDROME AND FIBROMYALGIA. THIS WAS AFTER 3 MEDICAL DRs COULDN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS WRONG W/ ME. THEY DIDN'T EVEN BELEIVE IN THOSE CONDITIONS BACK THEN. A CHIROPRACTIC NUTRITIONIST GOT ME STRAIGHTENED OUT AND ON THE RIGHT PATH. AFTER THAT (1 YEAR) I BECAME A LICENSED MASSAGE THERAPIST AND NOW I'M STUDYING TO BE A DR. OF ORIENTAL MEDICINE (ACUPUNCTURIST). MY SYMPTOMS WERE SIMILAR W/ LOW GRADE FEVER AND SORE THROAT THAT WOULD COME AND GO AND FATIGUE!! ALSO KEEP ON ABOUT LYME DISEASE BECAUSE IT'S PREVALENT IN U.S. AND MANY PATIENTS WAIT YEARS TO GET PROPERLY DIAGNOSED. WE DID ACUPUNCTURE RECENTLY ON A LADY THAT IT TOOK 3 YEARS TO DIAGNOSE W/ LYME DISEASE! THE RESULT WAS LOSS OF USE IN HER LEFT LEG AND GENERAL FATIGUE AND A SLOWNESS ABOUT HER. THE ACUPUNCTURE HEPLS REDUCE HER PAIN/ACHINESS IN JOINTS AND MUSCLES AND ALSO INCREASE ENERGY TO VARIOUS ORGANS THAT HAVE BEEN AFFECTED NEGATIVELY. GOOD LUCK IN YOUR SEARCH!:)

  • My doctor was hesitant at first to say to go on to antibiotics, but he said it was the best route to go right now, and I think I am supposed to be using a probiotic to, thank you for the heads up though! I'm not sure about lyme disease, ive been on doxycycllin since I was 14 for my skin on and off since doxycycllin is used to treat lyme disease, my doctors said if I had it, the doxycycllin probably would of treated it. I have been bitten by ticks quite a few times though, I live in a woody neighborhood in Massachusetts. I appreciate everyones help a lot, I'll post back as soon as I have more answers, thanks again! -Katie

  • Original poster here, ok a lot has happened since I last posted sorry about that. I got my blood tests back and my strep levels (aso titer i think its called?) is at 960, normal levels are 160, very high so my rhuematologist put me on pennicilin and said I should be feeling better in a few months, although it may not be the whole problem. I just had an appointment with my pediatrician, and my parents brought this up with her, and she practically laughed at me saying aso titer wouldnt be causing this, and on pennicilin I would of been feeling better within a few days. Exact opposite of what my rhuematologist told me but this was very upseting to me. She told me she thinks my problem is mainly depression (im so sick of this!!!) I know I have depression right now because I've lost two years of my teenage life and still no exact diagnosis. My rhuematologist says I just have situational depression and he put me through counseling with a social worker like he does with the rest of his chronically ill patients. But my doctor told me I had to go see a phychologist now. I'm so frustrated, I know being upset doesnt help me but all of my symptoms dont have to do with depression! In the past my pediatrician has messed up on me, when I was 11 years old I was having severe pain in my leg and she told me I just needed to stretch more, but it turned out I was fracturing it from a tumor in the bone of my leg. Sorry such a long post its just been a long frustrating time for me and I want to get better. Does high ASO titer levels cause a lot of symptoms??

  • Hi there. I am one who has been suffering for over 5 years and progressivly getting worse. I was just diagnosised with Degenerative disk disease. And also have osetophytes and protruding disks in C4,5 and C5-6. I have these occasional episodes of moving my neck certain ways and i would get blackness in my eyes and i would drop to the floor without unconsciousness. I am very fatigued all the time and always in extreme pain due to my herniations and muscle weakness. I get severe daily migraines which causes me to get nauseated. I awake in the morning only to be nauseated and wanting to vomit. I am really discourages and depressed due to these infortunate aches and pains. I also have at one point had a really elevated sed rate. What is wrong with me? Please HELP!!!!!!Original poster here, ok a lot has happened since I last posted sorry about that. GOOD LUCK IN YOUR SEARCH!:)I am a fault_finder not a doctor.Point 1. anti botic will fix this you have yeast or candida infection. You MUST take probotic or it WILL return if you take antiboticPoint 2. CHRONIC FATIGUE SYNDROME AND FIBROMYALGIA will have identical symptoms to yeast infection.Point 3.You must change lifestyle - Sugar cafenated drinks & pizza and sugar breakfast serials WILL keep generating re infection. NO SUGAR OF ANY KIND for a month for a quick fix your energy will return quickly, plenty of filtered water will fix the headaches as mentioned above. As a mater of fact a Probotic and lifestyle change is MUCH MUCH better than antibotics. A good naturopath will verify what I am telling you is correct. Please post that I am correct when you symptoms disappear.Regards Fault_Finder.

  • Might be worth checking to see if you have hashimoto's encephalopathy, which is only discovered if you get thyroid antibodies checked, even if your TSH is normal. It's a long shot, and it definitely sounds like the strep was a hit, but you may have more than one thing going on...In the mean time, fire your doctor who says its all just stress or depression. A real doctor will find an explanation for your symptoms other than "psychosomatic". Doctors use that because they are lazy and want to be rid of you.

  • Did you say you have dark urine? Did you ever get your kidneys checked? Dark urine may be evidence of your kidneys not working properly allowing too much protein to pass creating the dark color like tea. Kidney disfunction is often a side effect of long term pharm use among other things. You have been through a lot and I wish you the best of health. Good luck!

  • I started taking medication for Anxiety. 2 years later I decided to wean off of the medication very slowly. When I stopped, all together, I suffered severe frontal head pain, like I had a brick stuck in my forehead, my Anxiety was worse than I ever immaginedand it lasted for months continuous. I was in a fog and could not consintrate at all. I had to go back on the medication after 6 months of suffering. The pain stopped within hours after taking the first dose again? It could be severe Anxiety, you have much going on that would cause Anxiety, tumors and the headaches aloan would cause Anxiety and feer, nevermind all of the other medical issues you have. Thie Anxiety could be causing all of your other problems? We do not do well, physically and mentally and emossionally, when suffering from Anxiety. Feeling like this would also, naturally, make anyone depressed! The medication is Klonopin, it works great, worth a two week trial and if it works and you find relief, at least you may solve part of your mystery? I would not stay with the Klonopin; but try a different type of Anxiety medication, one that is not as strong and see if that works? I drink a ot of Gatoraid with water, that also helps.
