I have been having trouble with not being able urinate since Jan. 08. It has sent me to the ER about 4 times, I have seen 2 urologists and they can't find the answer. I have had to be cathetherized several times and I even wore a cath home for 3 days. After it is removed I can go to the bathroom. I cut out caffeine cause the docs thought it might be causing it. I am a female by the way, and typing in urinary retention on any search engine always brings me to male sites. It seems that every time I get stressed or very upset, it happens. Any suggestions? I need help!

  • You had a MRI of your back done I hope? If not your back can be the cause of it. Try googling cauda equine syndrome. Hope this might help... Kiera

  • I had the same issue happen to me one time as a drug reaction to either the anti-depressant drug i was trying at the time or the antipsychotic drug i was trying (at same time, so i never knew which drug it was which gave me that reaction). I felt a need to go and was running back and forth to the loo all day and sitting there, trying to go, in pain cause I just couldnt go. I just couldnt pee. So i wonder if you are on anti-depressants or another drug which is giving you this reaction.
