trouble breathing when exercising, sleeping , cough and chest and back tightness ,extreme fatigue

over the past 2 years I have constant breathing troubles- lots of thick plem coughed up - have to sleep on 3 pillows to breathe - chronic tiredness even after 10 hrs sleep - loss of appetite and weight loss. I know my body and that there is something not right with my lungs - I have had chest xray that shows overinflated lungs but nothing else - my symptoms are so severe somedays that I cannot get out bed - and I have never been like that - I am 50 years old - previous smoker - and my symptoms are getting worse - no medication takes away the back and chest pain I have tried panadeine forte and endone its feels like an inflammation in my lungs and gets worse every couple of months and in different weather conditions. I need to get a diagnosis and the correct medication so I at least be able to work everyday. The morning plem and headache upon rising are terrible and I cannot get to work until about 11 am each day -yes I am anxious but only cause I feel terrible all the time - as all lung tests have come back ok my parents think that I am sufferring depression - my husband supports me and we are not sure were to go to from here -
has anyone else had similiar misdiagnosis and then to be told later that yes you have copd , chronic broncitis or emphsema - I do not want to be told too late

  • Dont worry, if you are thinking about these symptoms all day you will get them because of stress. The fatigue is also stress. I used to think I have blood cancer and by thinking about it all of the symptoms just popped up. I tried calming down in a few weeks all symptoms are gone. Your chest x-ray says fine so no problem. Take a minor stress medication like atarax it may help :D

  • It doesn't sound like you have had your heart checked out which is odd to me. I had similar issues with the difficulty breathing and at age 43 had a heart attack with a 100% blockage in the right coronary artery. It hurt between my shoulder blades after the breathing problems started. Don't wait until you have a heart attack. I was blessed to have survived and it hurt a A LOT worse than I could have expected. You could even have the beginning of CHF with a blockage. Get a stress test!
