My husband suffers from depression and anxiety. He is currently taking zanax, and zoloff. He has sleep apnea with the snoring and waking up constantly. He falls asleep fine but does not stay asleep.
My concern is the last two weeks, his hands have been trembling and he is having muscle spasms while sleeping. He does not know this is happening nor does he remember.
Is this part of the sleep apnea? I cannot find anything with these symptoms besides Parkinsons. He doesnt have any trembling any other time.

Please help.

  • A friend of mine had this problem. Turned out it was his thyroid which he had to have removed. Thyroid issues can also be a cause for anxiety & depression. Have it tested asap.

  • Those meds can cause trembling as side effects of them, which can start occuring even after one has been on them for a long time. Im also wondering from what you said (waking up constantly), if your husband is being properly treated for the sleep apnea. My partner has sleep apnea and he uses a CPAP machine (as do others I know with sleep apnea). Why isnt he using a machine??? or if so.. I think you both should mention to his doctor that he's snoring and waking up a lot etc. Untreated sleep apnea puts a lot of strain onto the body as not only does one not get a good nights sleep, but the body also keeps stopping from getting the oxygen it needs. on further thoughts.. Actually a lack of oxygen to the brain may cause trembling.
