Can you have gout without having an elevated uric acid level? I am an extremely well controlled diabetic. Have been a diabetic for 38 years and am 43 years old. What I am about to tell you is going to seem crazy, but for the last 5 years every March I wake in horrible pain in my right toe. I immediately go to the doctor and get put on an antibiotic that takes the redness and swelling away in a matter of hours. Within 3 months the healthy toe nail falls off and a new one grow in. The doctor thinks it is gout, even though I have a normal uric acid level. The podiatrist is puzzled. This year the antibiotics have worked for about 7 days and now I am up in the middle of the night in horrible pain. I don't know what to do. Can anyone help me?

  • Yes, I believe you can, however, the doctors will disagree. Find a product called "Goutrol"; it takes care of it.
