Hi -
I am new here and am hoping for some insight. I think I may have a thyroid problem, but my tests show "normal." I have some of the symptoms of hypothyroidism, but others don't match at all. I am very tired - especially when doing boring things. I can't seem to keep myself from falling asleep at work. Luckily I have an office door to close. But it is kind of scary - not being able to stop myself from dozing off. Sometimes for 45 minutes at a time. But if I'm doing something fun I have no problem. I have been diagnosed with sleep apnea and use a CPAP. But I have been using it for almost a year now and really no improvement. Here are my TSH results:
11/05 2.5
5/6 4.7
10/06 1.7

Free T4 in 11/05 was 1.2

I also have slightly high WBC, Sedimentation rate, CRP, ALT and IGE.

any thoughts?

Thanks!

  • How about going to an alternative doc that will look at things differently ? Something(s) is obviously being missed. Other organs can be very involved with the fatigue, like the hypothalamus, pituitary, adrenals and more. All or any of the above can be involved, or other organs and systems.I would suggest accessing www.systemicformulas.com and ask them to refer you to a practitioner.

  • Your situation certainly sounds like narcolepsy which is a disorder where you are constantly tired and need to sleep. Usually with 45-90 minutes rest, you feel much better. You may be extremely tired throughout the day, yawning and blinking constantly and need to keep moving in order to stay awake?
