hello, i have been really sick and was concerned with having lupus because my mother had it and my little sister has it, i have alot of the same symptoms. my doctor tested my thyroid and the nurse called to say it's over active, i felt good that they knew what it is and could fix it. then i went back because i have pain in the front of my neck and feels like a lump when i swallow, so i had a thyroid ultra sound and more blood work. now they called to tell me ,my thyroid is low?????? i'm very upet because it seems they don't even know the right answer, is it possible to be over active and under active? i'm not taking any meds for this so i know it does not have anything to do with that. if anyone can help with this it would be great. thanks

One day you could be euthyroid, the next day hyperthyroid and the next day hypothyroid. Or it could be less fluctuating than that and change from week to week or month to month.Your thyroid can also be underactive and overactive at the same time. However, when that happens your symptoms cancel each other out.Find out more about thyroid disease at:http://www.thyroidmanager.org/andhttp://www.freewebs.com/thyroid/
