Hello! I have been experiencing throat pain for the past month. It ONLY occurs when I swallow solid foods. When the food is going down, it is painful and uncomfortable for those seconds, but then diminishes once the food has passed through. It is pretty far down my throat and not at all in my mouth. I was prescribed the anitbiotic Ceftin 3 weeks ago and it cleared up slightly, but then came back full force. A few days ago, I was prescribed the "magic mouthwash" and the Dr. is treating it as a fungal infection even though he observed no sore spots in my throat and there is no pain otherwise. So far, it is exactly the same and I am worried. I am wondering if I should see an ENT.
Could it be possible that I needed another round of the antibiotic or that I should be on a different one entirely?? I am hoping someone has some recommendations or thoughts on this. Thank you!
