I have been having this problem since about a year ago. I have been constantly trying to clear my throat over and over again and cannot stop. I do this because I feel like there is a "mucous-like" substance just hanging off my throat and my body naturally wants to clear that away but it won't.
A doctor looked down my throat from my nose and said he could not find any cancer related problems and said my throat is just fine. Allergy test returned negative.
How consistently I do this ranges from very 3 seconds to maybe up to a minute at the most. This probably is one of the reasons why I cannot fall asleep at night unless I stay up way beyond how long I'm suppose to be awake for and forcefully shut my body down. I can barely feel the sensation when I wake up however; but still can feel it and gets worse as day goes on. I can eat everything just fine, but I do get a bit more intense throat clearing after I'm done eating (but not while I'm eating). It's very frustrating both for me and everyone around me.
I have been reading all over online and I seem to not be able to find an answer still so please, I'd appreciate any help. (Tried taking acid reflux medications, did not work. Tried taking allergy medications, did not work)
