I have had this pain in the right thigh area for the longest time. It hurts most when i am lying down and shift my body to turn over. The pain will start right below my right **m cheek then shoot down my leg, it is a sharp pain. It's only the right side and I feel it getting worse. I can't think of what it could be. Not a sports injury, but I'm active, I'm 26, never had an accident or anything in that nature. Any ideas? Anyone?

  • Tensor fascia latae ilio-tibial band injury pain in runners is near the knee and in some women (myself included) on the outside of the hip and makes it hard to lay on it when sleeping. You can stretch the tissue so that it rubs over the hip bone during pregnancy through weight gain, have poor posture (swayback) or by being overweight. There are some stretches you can do, or get cortisone injections. The ilio-tibial band is very long along the ouside of the leg from the butt to the knee. "ITBS can also occur where the IT band connects to the hip, though this is less likely as a sports injury. It commonly occurs during pregnancy, as the connective tissues loosen and the woman gains weight -- each process adding more pressure. ITBS at the hip also commonly affects the elderly. ITBS at the hip is studied less; few treatments are generally known." Gentle yoga helped me.

My thigh goes totally numb when lying on my stomach or right side. When I go to roll over extreme sharp pain like knife stabbing pains pierce through the outside of my right thigh??? About 15 years ago I did have a bad injury in that area when I stupidly used a childs table to stand on to reach for something and slipped off and the edge of the table went up along side my thigh and ended up bruising my thigh to the point of a blackish purplish bruise. Not pretty at all!!! Now, I'm having the numbness tingling and sharp stabbing pains. Occasionally my thigh will go numb and tingly just standing or walking short periods of time. Any ideas???

Can feel like the bruise of a horse kicking you when you lay down, yet if you feel around it does not hurt like it did when you laid on it? If so, they can give an injection. Google "Rh Negative Autoimmune" to find my site, which is full of research related to this and other associated conditions. Bursitis can come and go and occur in multiple parts of the body.
