I'm a 19-year-old female who has been in pain for over a month now. My stomach is constantly bloated, weight gain that comes and goes, pain in my lower left abdominal area, and i can't produce a BM without a laxative. My blood work, x-ray, and CT scan came back normal, but the pain is still here. I was diagnosed with IBS a few years back, but haven't had trouble much since the first flare up at 16. I eat very healthy without any meat. I suffered on and off from anorexia/bulimia since I was 12. They aren't running anymore tests and I've had to call off work numerous times because of the pain. I had blood work, CT scan, and an xray. I took 2 vegetable laxatives from walmart that didn't produce a BM. I don't know what else to do and apparently the doctor thinks i'm insane. I have felt chills, hot flashes, headahces, gas, and the pains get worse after walking. I have taken enemas, ex-lax, and stool softeners with little or no results. I drank magnesium citrate that took 15 hours to produce a small BM. I tried gasx with no relief. I've had to call of work and I feel like ***l all the time. I can't let me boyfriend touch me because I'm in pain and feel disgusting. I drink tons of water have been eating apples and oranges for extra fiber and i don't eat anything with milk so I know it cant be lactose intollerant. No one cares anymore and I just have to suffer.

They will give up when they have gone as far as their training takes them. There is a time and a place for everything. I went to the dr. years ago due to fatigue, bloating, headaches, joint pain etc etc. They did a blood test and when the results came back normal they said I was overtired and needed more sleep! I was already sleeping 10 hours a night!! So my mom dragged me to the natural path. It was AMAZING! Ended up I had mercury poisoning from when my mom was a dental hygenist and formed mercury in her hands (back in the day..). It got passed to me and it affected EVERYTHING! Digestion was a mess! I wasn't absorbing any nutrients, numerous food allergies because of the mercury, blood parasite.. you name it! The point of all this is you need to get to the bottom of it. Sometimes you can't see the forest through the trees... it doesn't hurt to check. I have had great experiences with them looking deeper than the medical field. I hope you find out what's really going on. :)

  • You've listed alot of abdominal symptoms but have you ever thought about seeing a gynecologist ? Many women experienced abdominal pain which can be related to the female system, just an idea for you.I hope you find some answers, perhaps if your current Doctor has given up try searching for a second/third opinion ?Samanthahttp://www.undiagnosedillness.org

  • I have undiagnosed GI (gastro-intestinal) problems too.. i know how frustrating it can be. Heres some stuff ive picked up that might be useful? Have you considered the following:- Glandular fever- do you have a fever? It sounds like you might. Glandular fever can cause GI problems including pain in abdominal area (although i understand this is usually over the spleen area) and consitipation i think. Blood tests would identify this if you still have the virus. However, if your in recovery then it wont show up.- Underactive Thyroid (hypothyroidism)- Have you felt very tiard for a long time? You said you have put on wieght which is one sign of this. And you can have GI symptoms with it too. Again this should be picked up in bloods if it was extreem, but if you are borderline docs oftern dont pick it up (something to do with levels being relative to the individual)- Fibromitosis and related disorders- Do you have pain in muscles? Find it difficult to move around? Fibromitosis can cause problems with movement of gut. However its difficult to diagnose. Worth looking up a symptom list.- Other muscular disorders- can make it difficult to pass a stool. I think the reply before me listed a page which give some ideas about this. Can be related to pelvis i think.- Chrones. You can get pain on left side with this and constipation as well as general body swelling. However youd be likely to also have other symptoms (like blood in stool etc). Blood tests dont always pick this up (although they usualy do). Personally i would want to be checked for it if you are in pain for a long time. However this involves a colonoscopy (ive had one and its horrible) and bowl prep (which you would need to be able to empty your bowls with).-IBS- hate to say it, but if you are having an acute attack of IBS this might acount for your symptoms. this sucks sincees nothing much you can do. I presume you have tried buscupan, mebevarine etc? Good luck, and i really hope you find the cause of all of this hanbur

  • First, shame on your doctor for giving up without giving you a referral to someone who can help you. I would definatley be getting a second, third, fourth opinion. You did say you use to be anorexic/bulemic, and I'm not sure to what extreme, but I do know that both of those diseases can have long lasting effects on the entire system, and maybe your doctor is blowing you off because of that, which is so unethical. However, the long term usage of laxitives can be really devestating on the body, especially when abused, they are not meant to be taken as a substitute. That could possibly be where some of your pain is coming from. I'm not sure if you are eating enough fiber, but either way you should be having a bm regularly, especially with laxitives. If I was you, I would stop taking laxitives alltogether, and maybe try karo syrup and prune juice search for more natural laxitives. of course you are going to be bloated especially if you havent crapped. And could you by chance be lactoce intolerant? I know that can lead to huge abdominal discomfort and cramping. I would see an obgyn, get a second opinion, start keeping a food journal, cut out dairy, increase your fiber intake, cut all over the counter laxitives and replace them with natural ones such as Karo syrup, and prunes (search online for more). Try all of those things, and hopefully you will get some relief, GOOD LUCK!

  • Hey there I'm 29 years old and 4 years ago I went on with the same symptoms you talk about. I was sort of Anorexic because food was trouble pain , bloating and constipation. Latter my hemorrhoids got bad too , in order to have a bowl movement I had to take like 4 to 6 Laxatives. Went to the doctor they did a colonoscopy and blood test came up normal so he told me I have IBS and that was it until last February I had the urge to go to the bathroom but couldn't and it had been two weeks so I did pass out and bled they took me in ER and run about 100 test finally a new gastrointestian had me take a pill and 5 days latter have X-rays where it did show that my Colon was not working the diagnose was Colonic Inertia. I had my Colon removed and that was the best thing I ever had don. I feel great. One reason they never found out that my colon did not function right was because every test they run they did so on an empty colon so ***l no wonder they never saw any thing wrong there was nothing there to see. Good Luck thought you might want to look on this.

Good Luck thought you might want to look on this. I think this of all posts frightened me the most. This website has given me such peace of mind. I stopped taking the vegetable laxatives and stool softeners today. The bloating went down some, but my stomach is cramping and I could hear and feel the "rumbles". Though this way sound disgusting, I had to "dig out" the feces in me. It was pretty soft, but I couldn't push it out for the life of me. It seems the only way I have a BM is if it's all water. Is there any natural supplements that anyone has tried? I heard of pepperment oil. My boyfriend thinks I don't love him anymore because I don't want to make love, my internship gave me below average marks because I've missed so much time at the doctors, I'm cranky and tired with no energy. I want my life and my body back. I could only eat small meals like oatmeal or an apple so I don't feel sick. Any remedies you have tried that work? I'm desperate and have spent so much money on pills enemas gasx ect. thank you all

  • The last post hit home the worst for me. I stopped taking the vegetable laxatives and stool softeners today. The cramps aren't as bad. They didn't give me a BM anyway. This is really affecting my life. I don't want to move I'm tired cranky and in pain. I'm disgusted at the sight of this new huge stomach of mine. My boyfriend of three years questions if I still love him because I don't want to be touched or even looked at for that matter. My internship gave me a bad evaluation for missing time even though I gave them copies of the papers from the hospital. Does anyone know a natural supplement to take that'll help with the bloating and constipation? I heard of pepperment oil. If anymore has any ideas I'm up for trying anything. Ive spent so much money on enemas, laxatives, stool softeners, gas x, ect. i just want to find something that'll work naturally. Thanks all for the imput. This site has given me quite a piece of mind knowing I'm not alone.

It was not helping much either until someone recommended that I get colonic irrigation. That was what cured me and I attribute it with saving my life. There are usually several places in each city where you can find a trained licensed "colonic irrigation therapist". They are usually nurses, but not always. I know it sounds terrible but it really makes you better!
