The worst pain I've ever felt

For the last 6 months I've been getting this pain that starts off as a dull pain in my back. It makes me very uncomfortable at first. Then it gradually gets worse, it starts in my back or so it feels like, then spreads all over the torso of my body, then in my chest and ribs until my breathing feels constricted. Then right through the torso it feels as though I was impaled by something the pain is so bad. If I move it feels worse so I try to lay still in one spot until it's gone but the pain is so unbearable I can't even describe. I can normally feel everything throbbing from pain. Sometimes my stomach will get nauseous too. Tonight was the first time the pain woke me from my sleep. These episodes happen spontaneously, even when I'm extremely relaxed, and maybe come about once a month or even more. To date I've had about 8 of them and I can't bear to experience another.

Usually when I feel this episode coming on, I take 3 extra strength Tylenol and in about 20 minutes, the pain will be gone but I really need a diagnoses for this. It could be something very serious, and I've been to the hospital 3 times in the past while it was happening and they passed it off as an anxiety attack and did nothing. I know this is not an anxiety attack.

I know this is not an anxiety attack.Have your family doctor make you an appointment at a Multiple Sclerosis Specialty Clinic. Not just a regular neurologist. It is expensive but over time more will be spent trying to get help. The clinic will do tests to rule in or out not only MS but other diseases which cause the same or near the same symptoms. You will need a MRI with contrast for brain. Request a full body MRI to check your spine for MS also. Good Luck and keep moving.

  • Did they check for Kidney Stones? Have you noticed your urin being dark during or after an episode?

  • Did they check for Kidney Stones? Have you noticed your urin being dark during or after an episode?Usually everything before and after seems pretty normal. The pain is usually in the chest. Today I'm going for some x-rays and hopefully I'll find out the cause of the pain.
