For about the last 6 months I have been waking up with a swollen face, eyes lips cheeks . I also have swelling in my hands especially my fingers and stiffness too. There is also swelling of my feet from the toes up to about mid-calf. I have been to an internist who sent me to a Kidney specialist , who found nothing to explain the swelling. My kidney function is perfect. My blood results are fine. He then sent me to an allergist. He had my do another set of blood work and so far has seen nothing to explain my symptoms. I am now extremely frustrated and a little depressed. I hate going out side because my face is so swollen people stare at me. Please help me :( .
Please note that I've been tested for Lupus, RA and Kidney failure. All results are negative.

  • You sound like me. I havent been outside or done anything social for 12 months now, except...im not swollen, im red! My cheeks just flush all day, 24 hours a day, every day, and have done for 1 year. I too have had every test in the world done, including Thyroids and Systemic Lupus and all negitive. Every ***n test is always negitive. I feel like you all the time, im depressed and feel like i cant live like this anymore. I cant go anywhere, do anything, i sit in front of a fan/air conditioner all day with a cold press on my face to keep it cool because it also burns. Im sorry i cant help you with your problem, just wanted to let you know you are not alone...doctors have been unable to help me too.

  • Hi, thank you for your input. I actually went to see an allergist who looked at me and told me that it wasn't an allergy because I wasn't coughing or sneezing or breaking out in a rash, all the typical allergy symptoms. i'm looking into ayurdevia and changing my diet, as you have suggested, because this is really getting on my last good working nerve. I'll keep you posted on my progress. Thanks for caring.

I'll keep you posted on my progress. Thanks for caring.Allergies are not just itching and rashes. The line between allergy and sensitivities is marked in very arbitrary ways. Allergies unleash a cascade of chemical reactions which are impossible to track down for Western Doctors.Well, since you are already into Ayurvedic Medicine, you may want to look up NAET (Nambudripad's Allergy Elimination Technique).Rotate your diet, and make sure you are getting every vitamin, mineral, and trace element.By the way, I do suffer from the face swelling and I have been told that it was not allergies. Since I am not the first person in my family dealing with these issues, I knew how to isolate most of the offending foods/substances.* Take extra vitamin C. Try 750 to 1500 extra mg of vitamin C. This is a real anti-inflammatory. This is what I use when my face gets swollen. Also Quercetin will help you with any internal inflammation that you might have.Make sure you take enough Selenium and Magnesium.Best!!Eatafruit78

Then if I exerted myself, my face would turn a bright beat red. If people weren't used to seeing it happen to me, they thought I was having a heart attack. Went to the dermatologist and he said I had Rosacea. He said that my internal core temperature would get high thus making my face red. I was to chew on ice chips, not eat hot seasoned food, and to try and keep my internal temperature down. He said that possibly in the future, my face would get read and stay red. For the little red spots, he gave me a prescription for Metro Gel and that took care of them. I still, many years later, have a problem with my face getting and staying red for hours. Good luck!
