I just want to know that if the tests like the autoantibody test is negative, does that mean that I do not have Lupus?

  • Thank you aquilaMaybe not what I wanted to hear :) Im am not going to go into it all, but I am now at a point that I cannot take it any more, the pain is too unbearable, I have these really bad aphthous ulcers in my mouth, I was tested for bacterial, viral and fungal infection and it is non of that, it never goes away unless I drink cortizones, I start with 64 mg of Medrol every time, then it goes away but just about 2 or 3 weeks and then it starts all over again, It is now allmost two years.

  • I hope you don't have seronegative lupus, but I can recommend something for the aphthous ulcers. It's called Kenalog in Orabase, and it's a paste with a corticosteroid in it that you apply directly to the ulcer. It requires a prescription,of course, but I bet it would help you.Good luck.:)

  • You can also try alum (in the spice aisle in the grocery store.) just put a little powder on each one. Takes the pain away and helps to heal them.Good luck and god blesspam

  • Wilna, have they ruled out celiac diseasse? Aphthous ulcers are a sign of celiac, and it can mimic lupus. Try here: http://digestive.niddk.nih.gov/ddiseases/pubs/celiac/index.htm

  • Hi aquilaNo, celiac has not been ruled out yet, I think the specialist I am going to see will do some more test and hopefully I will know what really is wrong with me, the symptoms I have are anemia, the ulcers in my mouth and nose, arthritis, depression(but that are for many years now)sometimes it feels like if I have flu, always tired, when it is cold my hands feel numb...and some more....wow:eek: he he
