Can any medical professional guess what this is? Every morning for the last week I wake up with a tender (not painful) slightly swollen patch of scalp on the left side, back, base of the skull. It feels similar to a bruise, like I have accidently hit that area (but I haven't). Additionally, it goes away over the course of the day to where it feels completely normal, only to be back again the next morning. I have not changed how I sleep, pillows etc. I have no other symptoms. Sound like anything?

  • Could be degenerating disk of cervical spine and/or bulging disk. Need an MRI of neck. If yes, then there are injections that flood the area with a steriodal fluid to reduce swelling and pain...may take two or three treatments. Also, gently pull your head down towards your chest, stretching GENTLY, the back neck area. Put your hands linked together on the back of your head tilting your head forward and let the weight of your hands stretch your neck. Do this three or four times a day for a couple of weeks or when you feel the tenderness. Ibuprofin helps if you take regualrly every four to six hours for about 5 days (with food).
