Hello,

Please give me an advice on how to combat my medical problems, i fell from a moving vehicle and was rushed to a nearby (small) Hospital. But some days after my discharge from the hospital, i travelled back home, but realised that i could get the taste of any food i put in my mouth as well as perceive any smell till date. All efforts towards this issue has proved abortive. Please give me necessary information and a solution to this problems (am still a student with little or no finance).

Thank you.

  • I'm not sure that I understand -- are you not able to tast or smell the food? Or you smell and taste it long after it is gone? I sometimes have the sensation of smelling burning electrical wires. There were a few other symptoms too -- and this was happening a lot, so after testing for seizures, etc. it was determined that my smelling sensations came from migraine headaches -- without the pain. I found that this was cyclical (I am female), as well as happening when under extreme stress. I was able to make them occur less frequently with Aleve (naproxin) and stress relieving exercises -- though this sensation still occurs from time to time. I only bring this up, because often the brain will make one think that it is experiencing something, when it really isn't. You may not be able to find the cause to your problem, and it may be a factor of if it really is a problem for you (that you *need* to have it taken care of) -- or if it is something that you can live with. In any case, if there is any possibility that it is a brain injury that caused this issue, you should at least have an evaluation from a qualified doctor to make sure that all is well. Take care.
