To all,
In October of 1998 my son, Brad, started having a cough that would not go away. I started taking him to the doctor. With no testing the doctor decided in his infinate wisdom that Brad had a upper respiratory infection.
The doctory started prescribing steroids and antibiotics. This went on for 11 months. As the coughing continued Brad began having intermittant fevers, then nausea when eating, pain on his left side, weakness and fatique. The doctor continued with the steroids which I did not know at the time will shut down your endocrine system and that controls your immune system. After 11 months of this treatment Brad started throwing up blood. Finally, tests were ordered and Brad was stage 4 Hodgkins, which is cancer.
Not only did this doctor guess at what was wrong with Brad he was prescribing medicine that shut down his immune system that let the cancer grow even faster.
My Point: Be stern with your doctor. After 5 years of hospital stays, seeing many, many different doctors in many different fields I found that they are not as intelligent as they like to think.
If you have a problem insist on tests or it could be too late as it was for Brad.
After Brad passed away I could not find any attorney that would take Brad's case so I filed a complaint with the Dept. of Health in Florida. I have been fighting for 2 years now and will not give up. The doctor that treated Brad was careless, arrogant and ran from examination room to examination room. He was nothing more than a money making machine.
Keep Fighting,

  • I am so very sorry for your loss. How tragic. I agree that we must be very informed consumers these days. I won't touch an antibiotic anymore, and major tests will have to be done before I give my kids any. I hope your message helps others realize that Western Medicine is not the only form of viable medicine,( is only 200 years old), and our healthcare system leaves much to be desired. Doctors make mistakes. I wish you the best and hope you can help others make informed decisions in their healthcare options. Doctor of Oriental Medicine
