I have had these little lumps under my arm for about two years, they look like they are under the hair follicle, so I don’t think they are swollen lymph nodes. Just 3 weeks ago I had the flu that seems to be going round, it lasted a week, and when I had the flu I had 2 days of fever. Ever since I had the flu I have been getting headaches almost every day, but they seem to be going away now. Today I found out that I could actually pop the hair follicles and old puss would come out in a little ball. Im just wondering what do you guys think this is. Should I pop all of the hair follicles? I’m not really too sure how to get rid of them. I used to have a red rash under my armpits but I applied cortisone cream and that went away. Also, I have had this rash on my bottom and inner thighs since I was about 5 or 6 and It goes away and comes back, I had been to the doctor about it and he thinks its dermatitis but the steroid cream never makes it fully go away. It has gone from my inner thighs now, but on my bottom it looks like I have red marks all over it, like under the skin. I’m not sure what this is, its not itchy and it looks like scaring. Could this be scaring from having eczema/ dermatitis there for so long? The rash I had before was flaky and used to itch a little but that has gone. Sometimes on my hips I get little red rashes that seem to spread until I put on the steroid cream. I have no idea what’s wrong with me and I don’t think my doctors are giving me the right diagnoses. I am 17 years old at the moment.

All help would be good thanks J

  • Some advice first- stop using topical steroids without adviceI feel that what you have had is a fungal infection. Steriods will only make the itching disappear for short periods but it will come back. What you should have used is a combination of a topical anti fungal and steroid combination for about six weeks. But presently it appears that you have developed a secondary bacterial infection of the hair follicles. Please meet a doctor as you might have to be put on oral antibiotics. Dont delay this as the infection can become nasty with fever, abscess formation etcwish you good health!Dr G

I went to the doctor about two weeks ago for the headaches and he perscribed me CILAMOX to take if it dosnt go away after a few days. Well the headaches have slightly gone, should i still take the Cilamox? if so how long should i continue to take them for? Will this help with my infection undermy armpits? Thanks

  • Ok, i have taken the anti-biotics and im on about the 5th day. I have a headache today, but so far its been good. I still have the swolen lumps under my arm but they dont really fuss me at the moment, if the headaches do not fully leave by about the 10th of September i will go to the doctor again.
