For 3 years, intermittent swelling that is grapefruit-cut-in-half size, extends down the chest. Has happened this year now every month the past three months. Feels as though someone is choking me, swallowing is difficult. Pain scale, it is a "10". Advil 3, every 3 hours helps but what would be the cause of this. CAT scan showed nothing.

  • I have a "lump" about the size of half a grapefruit just above my clavicular area, pain in my ear and below my TMJ. The swelling is getting larger and the pain is getting worse. Right now it is rele one sided--but the right side is begining to swell just as the left side began. I have had a veinogram and the IJ vein AND artery are both "cut off" or just plain stop about half way up my neck. The vascular suregon feels it cud be from scar tissue from having so many IJ's placed, My face swells as well. Had I not had the venogram done--I wudn;'t of known about this anamoly. The vascular surgeon feels he cud possibly "open up" both vessels without MAJOR complications. I have SLE, HBP, CAD, osteoporosis, sjogrens syndrome, MS, vasculitis/cerebritis of the brain related to the SLE, history of seisures from cerebitis, chronic pain from multiple fractures of vertebrae and ribs. While on massive doses of oral steroids--there is NO idferrence inthe size of this lump--and no differrence ina ny of the sypmtoms. No doctror can give me an answer to anything I seen to ask. But with the swelling u rspeaking of--it sounds like what I am dealing with---have a venogram done to check on the vasculature in ur neck and up inot ur brain
