My sister has been to numerous doctors over the past three or four years. She is experiencing swelling of her stomach on her left side, swelling of her face and neck on the right side, numbness on her left side of her face. She has been told she has a fatty liver. She experiences mental fuzziness and has constant pain. Has anyone else had these symptoms? I hope I have listed all of her symptoms . I would appreciate it if anyone knows anything about what the diagnosis might be for these particuliiar symptoms, please let me know. Thank you.

  • Hello, I have fatty liver as well. Mine is NOT alcoholic fatty liver. I can tell you everything about it even the ugly parts no one wants to know. If your sister does not change her habits, eating, drinking, and exercise then it could result in a liver transplant. granted that is on the very severe side. Did she get a biopsy yet? If it is found that she has fatty liver and depending on the severity of it she will get on a cholesterol lowering medicine. She also will not be able to take any drugs unless her dr gives her the ok, not even cough medicines!, lol She may get on Actigall. Every 6 months I go and get a complete blood work done along with a fasting lipid panel and a fasting flucose test. Dr's Should not just tell you she has a fatty liver just by elevated liver enzymes. This is because taking supplements could elevate it or an infection could elevate it. Also most people with fatty liver about 90% are also pre if not type II diabetic. So what I would do , and in fact it is what I did is order another set of tests make sure she fasts- no food after 10 pm. If the results are still high order an ultrasound or CT, go from there on a biopsy. She will most likely gain weight and will not be able to loose it, her hands and/or her feet will be itchy... I could go on and on. Depression sets in....UGH!!!I JUST found out that I needed a specific diet and I was diagnosed about 1.5 years ago. so I have been on this diet for 3 weeks and I noticed some BIG results. The diet she should be on consists of No meat- I forget why but it has a lot to do with the insulin production, but it is NO meat whatsoever for 2 weeks, then it is light meats like fish and eggs and not white carbs or starches for 2 months, after that it is any meats and no white starches or carbs. for 6 months. By then and according to my NUT she should be much better and she could eat whatever she wants ocassionally but she needs to stick with the diet at six month level. She should'nt relapse either. Remember she can have brown rice, 100% whole wheat, whole grain items. it was tough the first 2 weeks but I definatly she a BIG improvement. I want to go and get another lipid panel but my Doc says that I need to wait. Email me if you want to chat slivlets@hotmail.com
