Well, I've had the year from ***l. I had a sudden onset of esophagitis at a restaurant. Ever since then, I have had extreme difficulty swallowing solid food. Doctors have not been helpful... they suggest taking anti-depressants. But, I would like to try every avenue before I put myself on mind altering drugs.
Here are my symptoms:
Slowed esophageal motility
Pain in the Jaws
Pain & fullness in the back of the head
Pain in the throat
Pain in the chest
Electrical pain throughout body
Electical pain in the entire neck region
Here are tests and results that I have had:
Cortisol shot to test adrenal glands : normal
Echocardiogram: revealed slight Mitral Valve Prolapse
Blood tests: normal
Barium Swallow: revealed slowed esophageal motility
Manometry test: Hypotensive Lower Esophageal Sphincter, Intermittent non-specific esophageal motor dysfunction with solid swallows, not suggestive of achalasia.
