Sorry if this is a repost but the first time I posted the thread never appeared.

About a year ago strange red streaks began appearing on my back, butt, and thighs. Since then I've been to two doctors that have not been able to explain these marks. More recently a strange lump has appeared and it has been migrating down one of these streaks. Please help me I'm getting scared.

I posted an image (don't worry its from my thigh not my butt :D)

Can somebody tell me what is going on?

  • could it be a stretch markThank you someone for finally answering me! No because it was moving (the white-ish lump). It has since gone away, but all the red streaks are still there. It's almost like something is leaving tunnels under the surface of my skin and they're turning into permanent scars, it's really irritating that the doctors don't have a clue...:(

  • Join Lymenet. The streaks could be bartonella (Cat Scratch Fever), and it's more common than you think. I have it. The tests are not reliable so join lymenet for more info on how to get diagnosed.

That actually makes sense too because I have 3 cats and I have been scratched on my back and thigh by them. Looking at some of the pics on google some of the more mild cases look a lot like what I have. Still not sure why that one lump moved or why I have so many marks in places I was never bitten/scratched but it is a good start!

  • Just make sure you ask questions on Lymenet (best labs, for example). I have bart, have had it for years, and several labs failed to pick it up.

It is a parasite which moves through flesh just below the surface. It is mainly caught by going bare foot in areas where others with the worm have defecated. Hookworm by another common name.

  • Did you find out the issue??? They look like my stretch marks (before they faded). Butt and thighs are VERY COMMON places to get stretch marks sure the movement isnt stretch marks growing?
