Strange recurring gastro flu-like syndrome

I am an older woman with a strange syndrome that is back for the third time this year. Symptoms are: Gas and abdominal cramps (not severe); frequent soft stinky stools; fatigue; dull headache, not all the time; body aches, not all the time; elevated heart rate and blood pressure; reduced appetite. I tend to wake up at night (clocked it about 6-7 hours after dinner) with racing heart and a weird anxiety, not usual for me. I feel like crap. This syndrome comes on strong, then might abate for a day or two but comes back. The last two times the "bug" or whatever it is lasted about 6-8 weeks -- so I'm crazed that it's back again.

Have been run through tests by a gastro (stool for all suspects like h. pylori, giardia, etc., a colonoscopy, endoscopy)...all with clean results. No IBS, diverticulitis, Crohn's, etc. I do have somewhat elevated cholesterol. Other factors: Last June had a laparoscopic gyn surgery for a benign condition; have recurrent genital herpes and vaginal strep B. Otherwise in very good health, take no meds, no risk factors (good weight, no excesses, eat great -- fruits, veggies, beans, organic -- take vitamins, get some exercise, seasonal allergies only) so this condition is puzzling, and scary. It makes me feel quite ill. When it finally goes away, I feel great. The time between episodes is about two months. I have not traveled to weird places or had strange food, water. Anybody have any ideas?
