Please help me. I'm a 16 year old girl, with no family history of these symptoms that I know of. The doctors have been really rough with me, and I'm scared. It's affecting my social life, my whole world is upside down. I don't leave the house much because of my symptoms, and I've begun to walk in circles without a diagnosis.
For about 8 months now, I've been having strange recurrent diarrhea that comes and goes at random. For the most part, it comes every two to three weeks. Sometimes less, sometimes more. The symptoms start suddenly, stay for a few days, and then leave without a trace. During this time, I have to make multiple bathroom trips and my appetite is gone. There is no visible blood in my stool, my stools are not black during this time. They aren't exactly entirely watery or loose, but rather a mix between diarrhea and normal stools. It's hard to describe and hard to understand. The most notable thing is that these stools are very quick moving, come with urgency, burn, and smell absolutely horrible. Like eggs that are starting to go bad or on it's worst occasion, acidic. Sometimes, a fever of 101 will accompany these symptoms, but the fever only stays for a day or even a few hours. I also become very tired, on one occasion I slept for 16 hours straight. Anti-diarrheals do not work when my symptoms appear.
After two blood tests with no results, I'm wondering if my doctor even cares enough. I'm wondering if they are even testing for the right things. I became furious with the lack of insight on my problem, and asked my doctor to give me a stool sample to check for parasites and infections. This came back a few days ago as negative.
I'm in fear of doing a colonoscopy or an endoscopy because of the preparation for the procedure. I'm also in fear of not learning anything about my condition. Of results coming back normal and then being stranded in the same rut as before. The tests also terrify me.
The symptoms are not brought on by any foods. I'm worried that what is going on inside me is killing me.
Stress seems to bring symptoms on, however, these bouts are different from the ones explained above. These do not last as long as well.
I may like to add that I have anxiety disorder, depression, and OCD. However, these conditions have been managed well, and they aren't playing a factor in my life as much as they used to. My anxiety was non-existent when my stomach problems appeared. I was living a much better life, and now it's been taken away from me again.
I do drink caffeinated beverages often, and my lifestyle has become completely inactive due to homeschooling. I do not exercise, I am very out of shape. I am not overweight in the slightest bit. 5'1 and 95 pounds. My family is working with me to get me back in shape and to reduce my caffeine intake. However, reducing the caffeine hasn't been helping my symptoms at all.
My symptoms back in June were happening every week, every few days. I felt really sick, I couldn't spend time with my loved ones. It isn't as bad as it was before. Now it only happens every few weeks.
My symptoms started after eating out at a fast food restaurant. I ate half of my burger and felt horrible. My intestines hurt horribly. I felt horrible for a few days, even having to wake up to use the bathroom. I thought I had a stomach bug, and did the best thing I could do, rest. The symptoms soon passed but something didn't feel right. A week later or so, I came down with more diarrhea, more stomach cramps. And then I started to worry.
I got a blood test done a month later with negative results. A month or two later after that, another blood test was taken, Still negative. My blood pressure and heart rate was fine. And I asked the doctor to give me a stool sample, since I was worried I could have gotten a parasite from the food. The stool sample came back negative. And then I began to feel more and more hopeless.
* I wanted to also add that just recently, my eyesight has been kind of strange. I've been getting weird recurrent eye problems (infections?) that are similar to pink-eye, and make my eyelids red and swollen. My eyes water a lot and get closed shut while I sleep. I'm not sure if this is related or not, but it is annoying and hard to explain to people why my face looks like that. It doesn't seem to be related to any allergies, as I don't have any allergies. This problem also comes every once in a while, and only stays for a few days before slowly fading away. I have not yet seen a doctor for this particular problem. Though I do plan on doing so. *
Has anyone had the same problem as me? I'm running out of options. I'm scared, worried, and my family keeps asking "What happened to our daughter?". I want to go outside, go shopping, and spend time with them without worrying about the pain and urgency. I don't want to feel sick anymore.
Please if there is someone out there, anyone at all who can shed a light on my condition, please..
