Strange chest pain

I have been having weird chest pains the last few weeks. It is directly on my left chest area, and usually feels like a sharp squeezing pain, which lasts for only a few minutes. I don't have shortness of breath, or any other symptoms. What is this? Should I be worried, or is it gastro-related?

  • had same.... try otc heartburn priolosec ---- ........never know unless you see a doc..... if you take one or two pepcid a/c complete and it goes away..you have bad heartburn.......get meds from you doc....just my thoughs

  • If the chest pain is associated with Shortness of breath upon exertion or exercise, see your cardiologist or have your primary physician send you to a cardiologist. The cardiologist should perform an echocardiogram, then an adenosine thallium stress test which will show if any cardiac ischemia or lack of oxygen to a portion of the heart is present. If the stress test shows ischemia, a heart cath should be done to determine if blockage in the coronary arteries exist. If substantial blockage to the coronary arteries exist, a stent or angioplasty will be done to open up the heart vessels to prevent the possibility of a heart attack in the future.
