I'm an active sportsman but over the last few months have been having some really bad pains in my left tibia.

To give a quick background, I play tennis, soccer and do a lot of running. I'm very active and do one of those for at least 1 1/2 hours every day.

I was told this morning that the problem is my joint, but I just don't believe that the pain in the middle of my tibia can be coming from the joint, and I think it is something more, since from reading around I don't believe the joint could send so much pain to such a directed spot in the middle of my tibia.

Now about the pain, it occurs whenever I do any physical activity, and even when I am walking for over 10 minutes. There is some small pain at the top of my tibia where the joint is but the most pain is in the middle as I stated, in a very exact spot which hurts to touch whilst doing sports or long walks. The pain goes away around 1/2 to 1 hours after stopping the activity if I do it for a long time. I went for a run on Friday, and I stopped as soon as the pain came, let it go away and then it came back faster than before when I started and it progressively gets worse.

The pain is really sharp and at points after the activity, I just have to hop on my right leg so not to cause pain on my left leg.

Please help me, I just have a huge feeling in my gut that this is something more than the joint since the pain is in such a pinpoint location so far away from the joint.

Now there is also a lump over the sore spot.

If you need anymore info to help diagnose then just ask away

  • Hi Lewis, u really need to go to ur doctor for examination, then they can refer u onto specialist doc & have any necessary tests/xrays/MRI done to diagnose ur problem, anything here would be guessing. In the mean time if excercise is causing pain & problems, really u should rest until u find out what is wrong, u could be making things worse. Best Wishes :)
