Stomach, urine and bowel pain

Hi I have been ill for the last two days with abdominal pain and nausea. By the time that I finaly felt well enough to see a doctor last night the pain had reduced from near unberable to moderate. However I still have pain if I urinate, laugh and it worsens if I move. The only way to create some relief is to produce gas or have a bowel movement as I feel constipated.

The doctor tested my urine and said it was okay (there was a trace of blood but they did not seem concerned) and examined my stomach. It hurt to touch my right lower abdonem. The doctor said that he thought it was a virus but because of the location of the pain, if I got any worse I should return in case it was apendicitis.

It really doesnt feel like a virus and having had a little look on the internet I cannot understand why I would be having pain urinating with either a virus or apendicits. The discomfort urinating has been going on intermitently for a while now before my stomach ache but, as I said, my urine test seems normal.

I hope you can advise me as I would be grateful for your help

  • How long have the urinary symptoms been? Were they there before the abdominal pain? How old are you? It's probably not appendicitis unless you noticed some pain in the ''pit''(epigastrium)of your stomach first.

  • Qh,I reread your post and discovered that your urinary Sx have been there awhile.Sorry about that question.Depending upon your age,the urinary burning could be due to urethritis.I need to know more. For example,do you go frequently,do you have an urgency to go,and have you noticed any blood in the urine?

  • Thanks for replying, I have had some on and off discomfort when I urinate for a month or so. I seem to be peeing less but more frequently and sometimes it is sore but when I have had urine tests (twice, including last night) they have come up normal. There was only a trace of blood in my urine last night. I am now having pain in my right lower back rather than right frontal abdonem and dioreah so am considering going back to the doctor again as still dont think this feels like any virus I have had before. Also to answer your question I havent had a rectal examination and I am a 33 year old female. Any advice would be gratefuly appreciated.

  • Your going more frequently,is that at night or just during the day?Next, since you feel constipated,a rectal exam is indicated. When you try to empty your bladder and not much comes out,it can be for a variety of reasons. Is that what you're saying?:)

  • Yes, just during the day. Its like I feel a slight itchyness and go but I no longer seem to get a full bladder and the pressure that you would normaly have to indicate that you need to go. Weirdly the only time that I seem to need to urinate urgently is when I am due a bowel movement or have wind. Either way there is never much pressure anymore and the volume seems to have deffinately reduced significantly. I feel stupid talking to the doctor about this again. But I feel soemthing is up even if it is totaly unrelated to the stomach pains.
