I am sixteen and a half years old and I've had stomach problems since I was fourteen. My symptoms include chronic heartburn, bloating and upper gas. I have also been hospitalized about eight times in the past two years due to stomach pain I sometimes experience (this pain has happened more than eight times, I've just been hospitalized eight times). It is a very strong pain in the central abdominal area and it causes vomiting (because the pain is so strong). I have no allergies that I know of. However, the pain seems to sometimes be triggered by certain vegetables including lettuce and cauliflower. No doctor had been able to come up with a diagnosis. please help

  • You mentioned vegetables and cauliflower....many have high fiber and can be hard to digest. Does it seem that foods are often a trigger for your discomfort? You may try thinking about your diet....you can have food allergies or food sensitivities....have you been to a gastrologist? Get your folks to take you to a DIFFERENT good doctor, (obviously your current doctor does not have a clue so time for a second opinion), a good GP or even nutritionist or other doctor experienced in digestive issues like a gastrologist. Tell your symptoms and it is possible you will be advised to start a special food diet .....by this I mean a bland, but nutritious diet (not talking about the kind of diet to lose weight, by the way) where you will eliminate, at first, all the foods that are typically known to casue some people digestive trouble (it is quite a few so be prepared to eat blandly for a while) and then after you have been on this for several weeks or even longer you will start adding in foods one by one and this will help identify which ones may be causing the discomfort...yes this is a pain in the neck to do, but will be worth it! This is one idea, talk to your folks about it...good luck, Joan

  • Have your doctors looked at your appendix, gallbladder and your ovaries? Probably if you've been in the hospital they have, but just asking.
