Hello, I am a 16 year old female. Ever since I was little i was always in pain. I’m sorry to burden you all, but I just really want to know what’s going on. Doctors just think I’m full of it, and don’t think it’s possible. Even if you could help me out on one topic your time and knowledge is GREATLY appreciated!

The most common pain I’ve got is stomach. I've had this ever since I was little, we then found out I was allergic to milk, not lactose. That was then taken out of my diet and labels were then checked thoroughly and were avoided. The pain still was still there. Now it’s been really acting up. I was admitted into the hospital for observation for a full weekend, and was given milk of magnesia, toradol, and prevacid. They did a series of blood tests, CT scan, upper GI, and ultrasound. Everything was normal, but i was still feeling the pain. I wasn't eating because it hurt so much, as soon as the food hit my stomach i would get the most excruciating pain in my stomach and I’d be unable to move. They now have me on previacid but without it I wouldn’t be eating at all.

I also have pain in my knees, really achy and sore usually when there is a cold wind, storm, or rain coming. Back when I was 13 I had an injury, and just recently got surgery done on it. I was prescribed Naproxen and Perkisets. Problem was there was a sack of water on the bone on my left knee on the inside part. (You know the piece facing the other knee) Anyways, so that was taken out and nerves are still growing back. After the surgery and even now I still get pain when weather changes happen. I've gotten tested for arthritics, but it's shown up negative. Arthritic does run in the family quite bad, but if i had it wouldn't it have showed up on the blood test?

I've also been just extremely tired. It doesn’t matter how much sleep I get I’m still tired. I've gotten 15 hours sleep and woke up still tired. I've been tested for anemia and mono. They were normal. An all around feeling of unwell.

Bad pressure in my head also has been happening for a while now. It feels like my head is going to explode, and also feels like it’s on fire along with my ears.

The one night back in June, I was sitting at my computer reading an article when I started to feel sort of weird. I would read then a word would be missing, so I started from where the sentence started and would try again. That word would be there but the next few weren’t. Then my vision went really weird, it was like I was looking underwater at bunch of bubbles, or in the bubbles. So I went downstairs to my mom and was just standing there shaking. I laid down on the couch and was shaking and didn’t know where I was, I was slurring my words and not making much sense at all, i was looking all over the room really fast, i was sweating, my head was hot (like feverish) and my feet and hands were cold and clammy. I was menstruating at the time. My mom called 911, the arrived took my vitals, blood sugar and everything was starting to return to normal. They didn’t take me cause id be waiting in the ER waiting room with everyone else because of car crash victims that just arrived, and cause I was going back to normal. The male didn't see a need to go either, but the female wanted me to go. The next day I was shaky and tired like usual.

Thanks for reading my issues, any advice or information would be greatly appreciated. I’m going back to the doctors on the 27th of August Please post before then!

  • Have they tested you for Helicobacter pylori? It's important that they do. Probiotics might not cure you, but they can relieve your symptoms a little. Good luck honey, I hope you soon feel better.

  • You sound a lot like some of my childhood, but you don't have to have all my problems. What are your favorite foods? What do you hate? Do you eat much meat? Or Carbs or Fat? Did you that migraines can manifest themselves in your stomach and abdomen? I had them as a child and continue to have into my 50s because of an underlying reason. I have been in pain ever since a child, and like you milk was an enemy. It was not allergies. It was the amount of protein in it. How do you feel after eating a big piece of meat, chicken, or fish? But to me it sounds like you had a migraine, aura, and seizure. The seizure part may be nothing more than a twitch attached to the migriaine. First let me know what your daily meals consist of --for example what have you eaten in the last week. What made you ill and what did not.I care.

  • I'm not that much of a fussy eater, i only really dislike liver, kidneys, wild meat, onions, peppers, thats about it. I try and keep my self away from acidic and fatty foods, and try to do as much exercise as my tired body can. When im not taking prevacid for my stomach, EVERYTHING and i mean EVERYTHING i eat bugs it. Much more for acidy foods (salad dressings, liquid soups, anything with viniger. And well for the migraines go, the CT Scan said that i dont, but i dont know. The doctors here are pretty stupid, second worst hospital in my province. Feeling after i eat meat or fish? Fine, when i take my pill. Its extreemly painful without. What i've eaten in the last week, well i dont really remember that well. Thats another thing i find im loosing more of my short term memory. this cant be good. Anyways usualy toast for breafast with a glass of water, lunch would be sandwitch or maybe even a snack. Some days i could go all day with out eating, even though thats not good. I try my best to eat altwast 3 meals a day. sometimes i feel constanly full other day im empy and never fill up. So i really dont know whats going on here. I make the doctors pretty puzzled also. Back to the meal plan. for supper its usualy a meat, vegtable, and a filler (potatoe, pasta bread) Back in june when it really started to act up, i went a week or so with out eating..id try but after a few bites i'd give up. id just stay on the liquids (water, gatoride, ginger ale. If you'dlike anymore info to help out just let me know, im getting pretty desperate here, and tired of being in pain and unable to live a normal teenage life. Your help is GREATLY appreciated!!

  • I am so sorry to hear you are in such pain. Have you tried Alternitive Medicine? I had allergies - took shots for years - didn't help much. Friend recommended a Doctor who practices alternative medicine - regular medicine couldn't help his wife so he went to something that would. He used Kinesiology and a diet program. I know, it sounded weird to me too, but that was in 1997 and I haven't had an allergy shot since. It's tough - the insurance won't pay for Alternative Medicine, but I figure it has saved me countless agony and hospital time. My regular Doctor told me to take Prevacid - because I am old - 67. I took it for a couple of months did some research - stopped & I take Apple Cideer Vinegar Tablets if & when I need them.As a child and young adult, I had violent migraines. At the age of 33, I discovered a Chiropractor, who graduated from Palmer School of Chiropractic, web site - http://www.palmer.edu/. I may have had two migraines since then and I am now 67 years old. If you are having that much trouble eating you are defintely not getting the nutrition your young body needs. This is something I just discovered this year after open heart surgery & I couldn't get back on my feet - it is a liquid vitamin called Vemma. Check out my website after August 11th - they are working on the website. I started on this and after three weeks, I was able to put down my oxygen, while I am in the house and it gave me energy to get up. Since they are liquid your body absorbs them - check out all the food you would have to eat just to get the nutrition of 2 ounces of the Vemma. I didn't expect it to work, but was at the point you try anything that you know will not hurt you. My thoughts and prayers will be with you. I do hope you are able to get relief soon. God Bless

  • HI, have you been tested for celiac disease? I have it, as well as my daughter. Gluten is in most everything in the common North American diet, and besides the continual stomach issues, it causes many other problems, such as anemia, fatigue, arthritis(I was diagnosed with arthritis at age 10) headaches, inability to concentrate, memory problems, and many other issues. They take a sample/biopsy of your small intestine, through an endoscopy. They can also test your blood for elevated immunoglobulin levels, as that is a strong indicator of celiac, but not always certain, so endoscopy is the most certain way for diagnosis. Has any doctor mentioned celiac to you?

  • Trici I reread your symptoms about the pressure in your head and the fire around your ears. Here again is another I have used is a Sacro-Crainal therapist. Mine is a RN plus being a lic. massage therapist and use also uses energy medicine. After my two surgerys, they had to intobate me both times, the last time was done by a machine which really threw my whole face out of place. When I got home I would have an ear ache that felt like it extended a full six inches away from my head. I had never hadTMD/TMJ (Temporomandibular Disorders) before, but that is part of what it felt like. The Sacro-Crainal work got that resolved. I also have a young friend that was in a motorcycle accident - declared dead - brought back. Doctors said would probably be a vegetable. After extensive Sacro-Crainal Therapy and Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy he is walking, talking, being a father to his new born. Not the same man as before, but a long cry from a vegetable. Doctor did not recommend either of those treatments. Research, love and persistence have paid off. More things to think about. I had put where to check out liquid vitamins, but apparently they took my website out of the last message. Keep smiling!:)

  • Thanks for the idea pmfish40! Yes i have been tested for celiac twice, the blood tests only. Maybe i should really look into the biopsy. Thanks! I was going to suggest celiac's too. They have a genotypes test (blood test) for it too now and without having the celiac genotype... it rules out basically completely celiacs disease. I suggest you have that test and go from there (bowel biopsy) if the other test is positive. ................ I've also been just extremely tired. It doesn’t matter how much sleep I get I’m still tired. I've gotten 15 hours sleep and woke up still tired. I've been tested for anemia and mono. They were normal. Im wondering if you find exercise makes your symptoms worst eg makes you feel even more tired or unwell??? If so.. maybe consider something like "chronic fatigue syndrome", that certainly causes the above symptoms along with memory issues. Also stomach issues and other pains can be an issue in it too.

    8 Surprising Facts About Cholesterol

Did you know that one in six US adults has high cholesterol?

  • yeah hows it going wonder if you are feeling better. You may be lacking of iron, find some iron pills from a chemist. I know when i feel tired and take iron again i do not feel so tired, and drink lots of fresh water. As for the knees as you have been so unwell all the time start strectching your legs and knees, pain due to probably lack of movement. Especially to the muscles that run down the back of your leg. It may take a month or two but your knees will feel better. A bike ride is good for the body, then stretch afterwards.

My mom called 911, the arrived took my vitals, blood sugar and everything was starting to return to normal.my dear, you are me! i was exactly like that when i was your age! and still am alot now (at 21). i had dr's tell me i was crazy, it was in my head, i wanted attention, i didn't want to go to school... all that crap. i head a spell exactly like yours once and luckily it was at my grandmothers when i was 14 and she took my blood sugar and it was below 50 i think. like 46 47... maybe 56 57. and my mom called ems a few months later when we were at relatives in ny. she gave me some soda so my blood sugar was ok and they told me to go home. i am tired ALL THE TIME! i sleep, even now, for a good 10-12 hrs a night. i had knee pain that started when i was 11 and they told me it was growing pains and you wouldn't believe all the things i've been tested for... i can't even remember. i had colonoscopys, endoscopys, ct's, mri's, the thing where you dring the 2 jugs of barium a couple times, ultrasounds, a ct where you drink a lot of metamucil... weird i kno. i finally went to the cleveland clinic and had an colonoscopy and they said it was fine and told me i have fibromyalgia. all these ***n things and they finally told me i have crohn's a few months ago. i don't believe, nor did i ever believe that i had fibro. but i took the pills b/c i didn't know what else to do, no one would listen to me, and no one would give me anything for my stomach. so! now i'm still pretty sick and can't go to school, but i know what's wrong with me.seeing as you posted this a year ago, i'm gonna guess you won't see this, but if other people see it, maybe i could have helped them

  • Dear SickTricia,Reading your story brought tears to my eyes. You have suffered so much and are only 16 (I suppose 17 now). No one at your young age should be left alone in trying to diagnose a medical condition and try to get help for it. Given the negative lab tests for the usual suspects and the combination of your symptoms - the GI issues, headaches and burning pain and the sore knees (this is a VERY important clue) - there can be little doubt that you have been suffering from one or more tick borne infections for all of these years. Please, please, please locate a good MD who can help you with this. You WILL feel better once these infections are dealt with. I am happy to help you locate an MD in your area if you e-mail me (isuckatcheckers at gmail.com). Depending on what city/state you live in, it could require some travel but it will be well worth it. It is such a shame that the state of medical care is such that you have had to suffer for all of these years. You have so many years ahead of you and you just need to find a practitioner with enough basic knowledge about tick borne ailments to get you well. While Lyme seems obvious here given the knee pain and vision problems, bartonella, erlichia and babesia can also cause the stomach problems and the burning pain. I wish you the very best!!Sincerely,Aaron
