I am currently having severe stomach cramping; today is the third day, coupled with diarrhea. The cramping comes and goes - every ten minutes or so, and is very painful. This is the first time I'm having cramping such as this (I'm 26).
A few months ago, I had a two week period where I had alternating constipation and diarrhea. I went to the doctor and was told I have irritible bowel syndrome, and was told to eat a high-fiber diet. Since then, I'm eating more fiber than I used to but my current stomach-cramp attack doesn't seem to me to be related to what I've eaten recently.
This morning, I went to the doctor again, and was told since I have a soft belly coupled with diarrhea, it's nothing to worry about (my intestines aren't blocked), and was given "Papaverine Hydrochloride 80 mg" tablets against the pain, but they're not helping.
My stomach pain hasn't subsided and the doctor didn't give any indication as to when I can expect them to go away...what can I do?
