hello my problems started back in the spring of 2008. I had awful nausea and abdomonal pain. One diagnosis was that i had chrons disease because of the awful pain and a biopsy on my intestines that showed inflammation. After another look the dr.'s said it wasnt any IBD. After going through the pain for a lot longer one dr. told me he thought i had Addisons/Adrenal insufficancy because of a cort-stim test that didnt respond. The initial cortisol level was normal, i think 22, but it never responded to the cortisol shot. After that i was put on pregnisone and that didnt work so they up my dose to 5mg in the morning and 2.5 in the evening and i felt great. 0 problems. Then my dr. told me he didnt know anything about the adrenals and to get a second opinion. So i went, got a second opinion and he told me he didnt think i had any adrenal problems but couldnt explain why the steroids were helping. He switched me to cortisone because he thought it would be better. I didnt like that dr. He didnt seem like he knew very much so i got a third opinion who said he didnt think i had adrenal problems either but couldnt explain why the steriods were working either. Now he is trying to lower my dosages and ive been feeling like crap again with pain, nausea, ect. now i am on 25 mg of cortisone in the am and 12.5 in the evening. All my abdominal pain has been in the middle right below my belly button and have had a tremor in my left hand. I posted this in the other forum but my question for this forum is what is the normal dosage for cortisone? Im not afraid of being on corisone for the rest of my life but dont want to be taking too much in case of osteoperosis and such.
