  • Has your daughter had a methacholine challenge test? This checks for asthma. If she has had one, and she has also had allergy testing (skin *****s) then ask about hereditary angioedema. http://www.nlm.nih.gov/MEDLINEPLUS/ency/article/001456.htm

  • Hi, I have a 7 year old son with the same symptoms, he gets a tight barky cough out of no where, we have been to the ER 4 times since Jan. He was diagnosed with asthma in Nov. but all his PFT's have been normal. So we went to an ENT and he did a scope to check for subglottic stenosis, which he did not have, but he did find evidence of chronic imflamation and abnormal mucus just below his voice box, and we are waiting the results for a reflux study, and a bacterial culture. So my advice is to see an ENT, from what I have been told that croupy cough comes from imflamation around the voice box. Good luck!
