My wife has had a sore tounge for several months now and after several visits to the doctors and denist no one can tell her what the problem is.
She has treated for thrush with no relief. Some say it is stress. Any ideas??

  • Not to be an alarmist, but consider seeing an ENT doctor. Our Friend had Stage 4 Squamous Cell Carnioma on his tongue and had to have it removed. Better to be safe!

  • Has anyone mentioned Geographic Tongue to your wife? I have it. It's extremely painful, often mistaken for cancer, can happen in ANYONE but is prevelent among people with psoriasis, can be triggered by certain foods or just happen on its own. It's horrible. AND it can look a lot like thrush. I know wikipedia is not the greatest source for medical info, but it's a place to start - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geographic_tongue

  • I Have Had A Sore Tounge For 6 Months Now And Have Tried Everything. Food Allergy, Bactieral Antibiotics, Viral Rx, Scrapeing My Tounge... Nothing Has Helped Me. I Keep Trying To Find A Reason But Nobody Even An Ear Nose And Throat Specialist Threw Up His Hands.. The Redness And Soreness Goes Right Down The Middle With Also A Rigde Having Formed Since This Started.. Sometimes My Tounge Swells Towards The Evening And Is Ok By Morning... If You Find Relief Let Me Know... Extra Folic Acid And Extra Vitamin B-12 Seems To Have Helped A Little But Not Completely And Now My Nails Have Started To Develop Ridges... Other Wise I Feel Fine, Have Energy, And Am Normal Otherwise.. Let Me Know If You Found The Cause

  • If you are a woman entering menopause, "burning mouth syndrome" might be the culprit. The cure is hormone replacement therapy. Read about it in "Prevention".
