heey guys, my brother is 5 years old, he's in the 1st grade, he can't memorize anything (songs and Qura'an) but he's doin ok with math and alphabetics (not as good as the other kids in his class) and most of the times when he talks he doesn't make any sense, its so weird even for a kid at his age, and he doesn't seem to concentrate at anything, and he watches T.V ALL THE TIME! and when I turn it off he starts crying non stoply.
do you think there's something wrong with him? and if there is whats is it most likely to be? please help me if you can!:(

  • Regardless of anyone's suggestions on here, you are talking about a child and his future. This child needs to be taken to the doctor and the issues need to be addressed immediately. Yes, he may appear healthy and happy, etc. But the sympotoms could be caused by a more serious disorder. Not to mention the long-lasting emotional damage that may occur from a child feeling frustrated by not being able to appropraitely express themselves and feeling inadequate by falling behind his peers. If he has some form of a learning disorder / autism spectrum disorder / ADD/ ADHD, or anything else that it may bethe sooner it is discovered, the sooner he can start to learn in alternate methods.

  • I cant imagine this child having ADHD as the ADHD children ive met, cant sit still! The poster says this child is glued to TV all the time. The poster is probably a child herself so not in a position to take brother to the doctor......... I agree that an Autism spectrum disorder should be ruled out.. it does sound like something like that. DeeDee.. Autistic children may have speech issues, they also may have certain things they really like and will tantrum on trying to get them away and may not be able to be calmed. They will find it hard to concentrate on the things which dont interest them. Memory is also affected, many have poor memories (thou some go the other way and have exceptional memory when it comes to certain things). Try looking up Autism (there is high functioning Autism and low functioning Autism) and look up Asperger's Syndrome It does sound like he possible has an issue esp if he also has problems with making friends and with social things. If he doesnt play well with other children, that is another huge warning sign that someone is wrong.
