First let me start by saying my only reason for posting is that I am at my wits end.....I have small section of skin no more than an inch or so that constantly gives pain similar to ,and at the same level of a bad skin burn....the area of skin in question is on the side of the opening of my back passage.
Any severe perspiration,or slight contamination by excrement will immediately activate the pain.
I have seen a number of dermatologists but none come up with a definite answer so that for the past 18yrs this has been driving me to despair. My GP feels no more can be done.
The cream given for use is a steroid cream EUMOVATE...it did help for a while but nowadays seems of no use.
owing to the position of the problem it is constantly being aggravated by my having to clean the area after normal motion.
The pain is so severe it infers with my life and prevents me from taking part in many activities ...for such a small area of skin the pain produced seems ridiculous.
Any help or advice greatly appreciated ...Thankyou

  • Monsterlove:I have to admit the though had not occurred to me,but equally I am not a firm believer in alternative medicine, but having said that I will accept your advice and contact them as any help will be better than no help.I equally appreciate that their are folks on this site ,with far bigger problems than mine, even so it is so tiring and frustrating for me to have my life put on hold by what amounts to such a small area of pain!walking, dancing, cycling, fishing, being with the grandchildren all things that I love have to stop when the pain comes on as it is so intense and over whelming.I would have thought that by now, localized areas such as mine could have been remedied by personal application of an anesthetic or something similar?I did at one point request a skin graft but was told it was out of the question!

  • No nothing like that,I do receive treatment for a non functioning pituitary but other than that nothing. This area of skin has been explained to me as being similar to exzema....if its position was not where it is!!!! the problem would not arise...but because I am forced to aggravate the area at least once a day it becomes a catch 22!

  • My sister has a similar problem.........not exactly the same, but what works for her is a continuous pressure on the area............she places a cotton (not synthetic) ball there and as long as she is "clean" and it remains tucked there, she has relief. Hope this helps.

Im very grateful for you to taking the time to reply....I see no reason in fact why it would not assist, as so long as nothing can "Attack" the surface then in theory I should be pain free.Having a bath supports that theory. My one question would be how is it possible to keep the wad in place and under pressure......using a plaster or similar is not very practical for obvious reasons.

Have you tried Acyclovir? My doctor gave me 400 mg three times a day. I do not have any STD but it keeps the hormonal secretions to a min. Also, you may consider using moist wipes...
