I have a small bulged disk at L4-L5 flattening the thecal sac, and a small disk bulge at L5-S1. I also have a tiny right paramedian bulged disk at T-9 T-10. I have constipation and mild residual urine (the bladder leakage has stopped); my anus, vagina and soles of my feet burn at the same time. My urethra does not burn when I pee, however, my anus burns when I defecate. I get random rectal spasms too with sparks in my butt cheeks. I have muscle spasms from just below my bra closure to my toes. The spasms range from horrifying to mild. my inner left calf muscle would painfully turn on and off like a light switch . My ankles became weak and unsteady. My symptoms are worse when laying down, and with exercise. I cannot sit or stand too long. When I lay on my left side, my entire leg (butt too)goes numb and starts twitching and burning.I have the same symptoms on my right, but to a lesser degree. I am not permitted to bend or twist because it starts the burning HOT and increases my back and leg symptoms.

SADLY, MY MRI IS NEGATIVE but, MY EMG SHOWS ACUTE CHANGES. A recent MRI does not correlate with my EMG either. I think I would benefit from a positional MRI ie, sitting, standing, laying to reproduce pain. I DO NOT HAVE A CONUS LESION OR TUMOR ON MY CORD

  • Have they looked to see if you have Fisures or tears in your rectum from the spasms which might cause the burning when you go to the bathroom? I have muscle spasms from my neck to my toes and it is AWFUL to say the least. I also get very weak with mine like no blood is in my head or something. I also have a smashed sac and disc issues but that is not what is causing the symptoms. I started getting chills and got on an atibiotic and the burning stopped etc....Don't know why but my muscles themselves had become infected along with the bones but did not show up on MRI either. I went to a Chiropractor only because I knew my spine was unstable (to much movement) They will take at least an xray of you bending at the waist then straight up then with your mouth open to make sure that you don't have any brainstem issues. It will tell a lot because it was the first time I could get anyone to take Pictures in different positions. You already know your disc problems so possible this would help find out if your spine is moving to much. This could be why you feel different at different times. My MRI was taken lying down and showed the discs but not the spinal insability because your just laying flat. I agree with you but MRI's are so expensive that the insurance company won't pay for them usually unless you have signs of instability. I kept tell them my spine was unstable. I could feel the changes. Well, like I said the Chriopractor did at least do xrays of me in different positions which I now have documented so then you could probably use that to request an mri while sitting standing and lying down. I have all of your symptoms by the way except the burning when I use the bathroom. It is miserable but know your not alone and the doctors are very hard of hearing these days. Sure hope this at least gives you a directional path to go in. Take Care and wishing you much luck because people don't understand what we go through.

  • Thanks for the reply,Yes, up to my colon was checked for signs of abnormalities. There are no tears or fissures, however, there is constipation. Recent labs show an increase in proteins and an elevated esr. We are still in the testing phase. The neurologist is trying to r/o an organic cause for my condition. I have been telling the doctors since day one, that there is a mechanical, and now neurological reason for my symptoms....sighs. But, what do I know? The doctor said, 'we gotta say what it aint, before we say what it is'.

  • I also have disc problems from L4,5,S1 and after a fall and not being able to get up, had to call the fire dept for assistance. I later realized I had fallen because my right leg was numb and when I got up to walk, it wouldn't work. For 2 hours, I tried and I also lost bladder control. For 2 years after this, and MUCH PAIN I began to experience "bladder infections," that really weren't. Then my vagina began to become numb. That is finally when a someone began to listen to me. My personal physician immediately sent me to an orthopedic surgeon that quickly requested an MRI because of a possible diagnosis of "CAUDA EQUINA SYNDROME." A very serious condition. The MRI showed some changes, but no CAUDA. Still in pain, after another year, I was sent to a UROLOGIST-GYNECOLOGIST. After examination, she gave me exercises to do that would strengthen the floor of my vagina...now today, no more numb vagina, the pain has decreased to about 96%. I believe I have some nerve damage to my right leg, because it still does not work properly. I left out a lot of information, and I hope you will take this to your doctors and possible get some help.
