My 14 year old daugher and I just returned from 1 week in the Dominican Republic where we were on the beach at Club Med. While there, we both got skin blotches on various part of our body. They seem to be randomly placed and vary from 1 inch to several inches. The shapes are irregular and there is no symmetry. They are slightly raised, red, and hurt when touched. They seem to be getting progressively worse. There is no anti-inflammatory effect of topical corticosteroid. Neither does Zyrtec (antihistaminic) have any effect. I am wondering if the etiology could be a parasite. I am concerned because the condition is worsening by the day even though we already are back home in the United States.
